Historia
Change the way you think about some of the greatest stories ever told with this examination of the most important myths from more than 3,000 years of history. The ways in which the human imagination can transform historical events, people, and themes into powerful myths that endure through the ages is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Don’t miss any of J. Rufus Fears’ lectures.

Fears consistently presents history, not just as a collection of dates and events, but as a moral guide guide calling out to us not to fall into these same snares. He, as the ancients did, saw history as a tool for developing individuals. As I understand he has passed on, I’m grateful to sit under his teaching, (thumbs up great courses) and look forward to any archived material released in the future.

Historia
History is made and defined by landmark events-moments that irrevocably changed the course of human civilization. They have given us: spiritual and political ideas; catastrophic battles and wars; scientific and technological advances; world leaders both influential and monstrous; and cultural works of unparalleled beauty.

Fun course but Professor Fears is not for everyone

Selected events
Revisado: 06-27-17
I've read many of the negative reviews given and would like to say, I found it obvious that Fears did not mean this series to be the 36 events above all others that changed history. As he lectures he mentions other events, such as genetic research, as history changing, but does not include it in this list of 36. Fears is a masterful speaker and teacher. His attention to wisdom and justice lends him the air of philosopher at times, but he believed as the ancient historians did, that history was a vessel by which wisdom traveled and woe to the people who do not learn its lessons.
