Historia
Twin sisters Marisa and Clare Stockton were sixteen when Clare’s body was found in Virginia’s James River. No arrests were made. Fourteen years later, Marisa’s friends and dedicated career as a photographer help her to cope with the open wound of the past. But Marisa still feels the hurt—and the unsolved murder isn’t the only thing haunting her. A recent car crash has erased ten days of Marisa’s memories—a black hole leading up to the accident that’s left her disoriented.

Interesting plot, painful writing
Revisado: 11-09-22
The premise of the book is interesting, but so many aspects of the writing made it hard to read.
The same exact phrases are used repetitively by each character (e.g. “blood runs thicker than water”) as if they all have the same limited vocabulary and don’t have their own voices. That feels like immature writing and made the characters unbelievable. It reminded me of the Twilight series’ use of the same 500 words over and over, as if the author couldn’t find a thesaurus.
Then there are entirely irrelevant and…gross? Creepy?… references throughout to characters’ breasts, plus poorly written sex scenes that, again, served no purpose, were cringe-worthy, and even bordered on disturbing.
Finally, while the plot was compelling, there were so many loose ends introduced but never tied up.
This was fine as a quick, cheap read but not a book I’d recommend.

Historia
The simple truth is proven that sometimes a gentleman never knows his heart until a lady comes along to introduce it to him. When Mr. Darcy encounters Elizabeth Bennet injured after a fall, his concern for her welfare cracks the shell of his carefully guarded heart, and a charming man emerges. Elizabeth sees an appealing side of him she never believed possible from the stoic, proud master of Pemberley.

Wonderful narrator!
Revisado: 10-05-20
Excellent excellent excellent narration. One of the best narrators I’ve encountered, and he did the colorfully sketched personalities justice in his reading of this delightful story.

Historia
One of the turning points in Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is Miss Elizabeth Bennet's passionate refusal and denunciation of the equally passionate but infinitely more repressed Fitzwilliam Darcy. However, unforeseen events can lead to the most unexpected consequences. During a visit with her friend, Charlotte Collins, at Hunsford, Elizabeth falls prey to illness for almost the first time in her life just as Mr. Darcy comes to call. Befuddled by her illness, she misinterprets his proposal of marriage, and a simple nod of acknowledgment is mistaken for acceptance.

Passable narration
Revisado: 10-01-20
The plot is compelling, especially initially (although I found my interest wandering the last several hours) but the narration is passable at best. The narrator mispronounced a number of words, audibly stumbled other numerous others, and background and drinking noises were not infrequent.

Historia
One distressing night in Ramsgate, Elizabeth Bennet impulsively offers Georgiana Darcy aid. Scandalous rumors soon surround the ladies and Fitzwilliam Darcy, forcing Elizabeth and Darcy, strangers to each other, to marry. Darcy despises everything about his marriage to the daughter of an insignificant country gentleman with vulgar relations. Georgiana, humiliated after a near-elopement with George Wickham and full of Darcy pride, hates her new sister. Their family look upon Elizabeth with suspicion and do little to hide their sentiments.

Delightfully written + best narrator
Revisado: 09-20-20
This story is deep, complex, moving, sweet and entirely believable. One of the best JAFFs I’ve ever read. Harry Frost’s narration is undeniably the best I’ve heard yet: not only does he successfully create different voices for each of the characters (including believable ones for the female characters), but doing so doesn’t prevent him from the inflections and delivery the author describes. I personally hate when the a narrator’s voices always sound the same, regardless of what is happening in the scene or how the author has written the dialogue.
With Harry Frost, when a character is described as rushing through their speech, he does just that; when another’s emotions are supposed to be evident in their speaking, he brings those emotions forth in his voicing of the character. It truly feels as if the characters and the scenes have come to life with all the depth and nuance the author wrote in the original story.
I will gladly seek out more of Lucy Marin’s and Harry Frost’s works, and hope to see them collaborate more in the future.
