I liked this book but found it to be a bit slow going. I changed the speed to 1.2 and it seemed to help move it along. Great narration. Not super captivating but some interesting twists that brought it from 3 stars to 4.

Some books captivate you from the very first page and refuse to let go—All the Ugly and Wonderful Things was one of those rare reads for me. This story is both deeply disturbing and heartbreakingly beautiful.

From the start, I was completely engrossed in Wavy and Kellen’s story. If I could have listen to straight through without stopping, I would have.
I experienced every emotion—love, sadness, anger, hope—and when it finally ended, I was left with goosebumps.

This is one of the few books to earn a five-star rating from me, and it’s one I won’t forget anytime soon. Bravo to Bryn Greenwood for crafting such a compelling and thought-provoking novel. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This story definitely held my interest, but the narration was a bit slow for me. Some parts I needed to rewind to make sense of the storyline. I suggest speeding it up a bit. It made the book more enjoyable for me!

This was a fairly quick listen - I sped it up to help it along. Interesting enough but had an odd ending. No spoilers. I laughed at how it ended. 3 plus stars

All the Glimmering Stars by Mark Sullivan tells the emotional and heartbreaking story of two children, Anthony Opoka and Florence (Betty) Okori, who are kidnapped and forced into the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Set in the war-torn regions of Sudan and Uganda, the book highlights the devastating impact of the LRA, where children’s lives are stolen and survival becomes the only option.

The themes of stolen childhoods, trauma, and resilience are at the heart of the book, and Sullivan does a powerful job portraying the horrors these children endured. Anthony and Florence, both raised in loving families, are suddenly thrust into a world of unimaginable terror. Despite the pain they face, their strength and bravery shine through, making their story both heartbreaking and inspiring.

There are moments in the book that are hard to read—especially the vivid depictions of violence and the mistreatment of children—but these parts are necessary to fully understand the horrors so many children faced. It’s not an easy story, but it’s one that needs to be told.

I became really attached to both Anthony and Florence as I read. Their journey moved me to tears, both out of sadness and eventually hope. This is a powerful and important story that I would recommend to everyone. Even though it’s tough in places, the themes of survival and courage make it well worth the read.

This book was unputdownable—such a great story. The female main character and her relationship with the other characters were intriguing. I also liked hearing excerpts of the podcast in between chapters. Catchy music, too. Well done, Amy Tintera. I look forward to reading another of your books.

I am a big fan of Julia Whelan. She is a fantastic narrator and was a great choice to read this book.

Now, I am also a big fan of Emily Henry! This book was so enjoyable to dive into. It had a great cast of characters and a developing storyline that was easy to follow and intriguing enough that I wanted to keep listening. I can't wait for her next book.
