Historia
As a botanist and professor of plant ecology, Robin Wall Kimmerer has spent a career learning how to ask questions of nature using the tools of science. As a Potawatomi woman, she learned from elders, family, and history that the Potawatomi, as well as a majority of other cultures indigenous to this land, consider plants and animals to be our oldest teachers.

Captivating
Revisado: 05-13-21
This book was exquisite... with tidbits of scientific dogma delicately intertwined with the wisdom of timeless indigenous folk tales, Kimmerer uses a passionately poetic articulation, and elegant imagery, to display discrete philosophical lessons in ethics. Her book is a wonderfully worded interpretation of the wisdom of nature, translated from the profoundly beautiful cultural protective of a Potawatami botanist, simultaneously supported through the lense of scientific analysis. With all the best characteristics a book can have, the author uses a technique that glistens with the wander of a good fantasy novel while unsuspectingly framing prominent issues of reality in a light long past due. Well worth another read. I feel like my life was missing something before this book was a part of it. Definitely one of the most well written nonfictions I have ever experienced. To have it read by the Author was an added gift.

Historia
Chemistry is the science that studies the composition and structure of matter and the changes it undergoes. Because everything in the universe is composed of matter, chemistry is the study of our material world. The chemical touches our lives and influences our activities in many ways that are often called the nuclear science.

awful

I couldn't even get all the way through this. It sounds like a robot reading a poor translation of a poorly written transcript. it is the first thing I have purchased from Audible that I felt I wasted my money on.

Historia
Reporter Sam Kean reveals the periodic table as it’s never been seen before. Not only is it one of man's crowning scientific achievements, it's also a treasure trove of stories of passion, adventure, betrayal, and obsession. The infectious tales and astounding details in The Disappearing Spoon follow carbon, neon, silicon, and gold as they play out their parts in human history, finance, mythology, war, the arts, poison, and the lives of the (frequently) mad scientists who discovered them.

I had to pull myself away to get anything done once I started listening. I haven't read a book quite so enticing in some time. It covered all the bases for me... made me laugh, shocked me, intrigued my intellect, and left me wanting more once I finished. Well written, well organized and well performed. just so all around entertaining that I may just buy the hard copy to add to my collection. So glad I stumbled across this title.

out of context
Revisado: 06-20-17
This story had absolutely nothing to do with the periodic table of elements. If you're going to try to memorize something you may as well try to memorize something about it and not complete nonsense that just distract you from the meaning of what you were trying to memorize.
