Timeless and Singular

Simply put, this is one of my very favorite books ever written. I love the author, her intent, her wisdom, her candor and her her eternal beauty. I believe this book to be an apt reflection of Dixie’s dear soul.

Should be required reading in schools

Maggie Gyllenhaal is superb!

The narration by Maggie Gyllenhaal was absolutely wonderful! The story was better in some ways than I expected, but maddening I’m other ways. Not sorry I listened to this, but not sure that I could necessarily recommend it either.

Entertaining and Informative

I really enjoyed this short story and I feel that I learned quite a few new bits of information about premies and their parents. Also, I think that I gained even more respect for the nurses who give up so much of their own lives to help these precious babies and their moms and dads.

Uplifting, fun and transformative!

This little book was a pure delight from beginning to end. I loved it so much that I am now ordering a hard copy to keep on hand! Patric’s reading of the audiobook added an extra special dimension to the information and stories! I highly recommend Laundry Love!

"READ" this book! But, DO NOT use the audiobook!

I must say that I have listened to thousands of hours of audiobooks. And, while some narrators are better than others, the narrator for Send For Me is unlike any I have heard before. I imagine that she is very good at her work, but she needs to make some major adjustments to her style. She sounds irritated in a sing-song way that is so distracting that it makes it difficult to follow the story. It is as though she is bored, irritated and sarcastically reading a grocery list. Her British accent is terrible. It would have been much better if she had not attempted it. Having said all of this, I would like to say that I really enjoyed the story and I thought that the idea of using her great-grandmother's actual letters was a wonderful idea. If you are considering reading this book, I would encourage you to skip this audio and use a kindle or hard copy version.

Worth 100+ Audible Credits!

I first heard of this book while watching CBS Sunday Morning a couple of weeks ago. When I saw that it was available on audiobook I was thrilled! When I saw that Ms. Teichner herself was the narrator, I couldn't hit the purchase button fast enough. To say that this book was wonderful is certainly an understatement. It is hard to imagine that this the very first book written by the author. Not only is the storytelling so poignant and beautiful, but it has a magical way of bringing you into the story, moment by moment. I found myself dreading listening as the story drew closer to the death of the beloved Carol. But, I knew that I must continue on as Martha had done. The saddest events of our lives can also possess the most unusual, sharp and eternal beauty. I would like to thank Martha Teichner for her willingness to write this story. The pain of remembering in detail, so much loss must have been emotionally draining. But, because of this story, Carol and Harry, Martha and Stephen (and Minnie and Violet and Beast and Goose) will live on the hearts and minds of so many of us. What a treasure!

Beautifully Timed

This book was a treasure for me. The stories told within this book bring comfort, hope, guidance and love to the reader. The eternal concepts of kindness, steadfastness and responsibility of character ring out! The only people that would not enjoy this book would have to be those with no softness left within their hearts. I will now begin re-reading this book and I plan to do so many times throughout the years to come to remind me that there is still goodness to be found in this world.

My Own Little Christmas Tradition

Several years ago I found this magical little audiobook of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The story itself is perfection, but the narration sets this one apart. The late Ralph Cosham seemed born to tell this story. Each year I listen to it over and over and I never fail to feel the joy and hope felt by Mr. Scrooge. I cannot overstate the immense talent and giftedness of Ralph Cosham’s storytelling.
