Historia
As Quebec City shivers in the grip of winter, its ancient stone walls cracking in the cold, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache plunges into the strangest case of his celebrated career. A man has been brutally murdered in one of the city’s oldest buildings - a library where the English citizens of Quebec safeguard their history. And the death opens a door into the past, exposing a mystery that has lain dormant for centuries... a mystery Gamache must solve if he’s to catch a present-day killer.

Did not live up to expectations!
Revisado: 11-29-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No, considered several times deleting it, but ploughed on. Read great reviews, but this book had way too much going on for me to keep track of. Might be better if read. Way too many characters - 25 - 30 people, probably about 4 or 5 main characters. Too many irrelevant side stories. Too much Quebecois history shoved down your throat, and I've even been there, so probably a bit more appreciative than the average listener. The history would be more acceptable if you were say a high school student in Quebec, but it's local history, and not really something outsiders have more than a passing interest in. It's almost like the book had a political statement to make as well because many Quebecois people want independence from Canada, and this was very very evident in the book, to the point where it annoyed me.
What could Louise Penny have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Cut out all the irrelevant side stories, and instead of their being two murder cases plus the police situation at the beginning, which continually reappeared throughout the novel (and this to-ing and fro-ing time wise threw me out on a few occasions), just stick to one thread.
This should shorten it, which it desperately needed.
Have you listened to any of Adam Sims’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. But he was excellent I thought, and did the accents well.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No, hardly made it through the book.
Any additional comments?
Wish I hadn't bothered with it. Dragged on, and bored me for the most part.

Perfect audio book
Revisado: 11-28-12
If you could sum up The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry in three words, what would they be?
gentle, sad, wonderful
Who was your favorite character and why?
Harold - he was the only main character everyone else was secondary really. I loved the way this otherwise normal, boring man, did something totally out of his comfort zone. He discovered himself along the way.
Which character – as performed by Jim Broadbent – was your favorite?
Harold, we get to know him very well. Jim Broadbent is the best narrator I've listened too so far. Excellent pace, doesn't try to imitate a lady's voice. We can picture Harold when we hear Jim's voice talking.
If you could rename The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, what would you call it?
I think the title is great. It aptly expresses what the book is about.
Any additional comments?
Don't expect a racy drama. This is a beautiful story of human nature, and the pace and limited number of characters make it perfect for listening to in the car.I'm don't find many audio books particularly easy to listen to, but this is by far my favorite audio book, I hope Jim Broadbent will do more in the future.

As a therapist specializing in sexual issues, psychiatrist Dr. Morgan Snow isn't easily shocked, or shaken, as readers of the popular "Butterfield Institute" novels know. There are times, however, when the need for her services leads her out of the office... and into unfamiliar worlds. In these stories, the therapist matches her wits -and her training - against three men of mystery: Jack Reacher, John Rain, and Cotton Malone.

Revisado: 10-28-12
If you could sum up Before I Go To Sleep in three words, what would they be?
Twists, enjoyable, gained momentum
What did you like best about this story?
As the listener, I wasn't always sure who was to be trusted, so it kept you second guessing what was happening. Got better as you became more involved.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Not a lot of intonation in the readers voice. Too flat and monotonous for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too long, but did put it straight on when I got into the car so I could keep going with the story.
Any additional comments?
I found the chronology a bit confusing. I'm still unsure about some of the time frames. Also, it was pretty slow starting out, but as the story unfolded it became more interesting.

Too many characters for audio
Revisado: 09-08-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No - unless they bought the paper version. Too many characters for me when in audio form, especially as I usually listen when I'm doing something else at the same time eg gym, mowing the lawn). Also, it was about a quarter of the way in before the crime actually occurred - there is too much dialogue that doesn't really contribute to the story - just padding really.
What about Jeff Woodman’s performance did you like?
The narrator made an excellent job of creating different voices. There were a lot of characters, and he had a different voice for all of them. Faultless narration.
Did Mind Scrambler inspire you to do anything?
Inspired me not to get another audio book by this author. Too long and not fast moving enough, although it picked up a bit towards the end.
Any additional comments?
A bit too much swearing and a lot of it really didn't need to be included, although I know it's part of the characters persona.

What would have made Sealed with a Kiss better?
A more credible storyline
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment - this was the first audiobook I'd bought. Thought it would be a good idea to start off with something lighthearted and short to see how the experience was.
Won't buy this author again.

Historia
Maybe it was because I was about to turn the same age my mother was when I lost her. Maybe it was because my husband and I were running out of things to say to each other. But when the online study called “Marriage in the 21st Century” showed up in my inbox, I had no idea it would change my life. It wasn’t long before I was assigned both a pseudonym (Wife 22) and a caseworker (Researcher 101). And, just like that, I found myself answering questions. Before the study, I was Alice Buckle. But now, I’m also Wife 22.

Historia
Once in a generation a woman comes along who changes everything. Tina Fey is not that woman, but she met that woman once and acted weird around her.
Before 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and 'Sarah Palin', Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

Stick to 30 Rock
Revisado: 09-07-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I love Tina Fey, and enjoyed hearing her life story so far.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
A lot of names mentioned, but if you're not in the US acting scene, they dont mean much!
How could the performance have been better?
When Tina swears, it sounds so contrived and unnatural. Also the narration basically sounded like her sitting there reading it out. If it's your own story, it should sound a bit more as though she is talking with you not at you. There was no natural tone or intonation.
Was Bossypants worth the listening time?
Was ok, but not great.
Any additional comments?
Unless you're a big fan, i think you will find this a bit so so.
