Historia
You might believe you’re thinking clearly in the moments that matter most. But in all likelihood, when the pressure is on, you won’t be thinking at all. And your subsequent actions will inevitably move you further from the results you ultimately seek—love, belonging, success, wealth, victory. According to Farnam Street founder Shane Parrish, we must get better at recognizing these opportunities for what they are, and deploying our cognitive ability in order to achieve the life we want.

Historia
Unconscious bias: persistent, unintentional prejudiced behavior that clashes with our consciously held beliefs. We know that it exists, to corrosive and even lethal effect. We see it in medicine, the workplace, education, policing, and beyond. But when it comes to uprooting our prejudices, we still have far to go. With nuance, compassion, and ten years' immersion in the topic, Jessica Nordell weaves gripping stories with scientific research to reveal how minds, hearts, and behaviors change.

The best book on bias
Revisado: 12-19-22
I have been pondering unconscious bias and issues of diversity and equity for a few years. This book helped me see why and why so many easily criticize DEI efforts without acknowledging the research on which those efforts are based keeps evolving. Listening will make you a more evolved human.

Terrible!
Revisado: 09-23-22
Either this is a computerized translation from another language or the author or narrator was having a stroke. Barely comprehensible nonsense and frequent mispronunciation. There is a ton of content, but it takes incredible amounts of concentration to glean it. Save your money/credit.

I don’t know why this book is popular. The pedantic haranguing gave me a headache. Lacks compassion. Absolutist nonsense. The author is snide and pretentious.

Not worth the price
Revisado: 07-14-20
Some good content here, but not as much as implied by the length of the book. Much of it just repeats the same several paragraphs over and over ad nauseum. The reader does not know how to pronounce many words and often misspeaks, for examples, saying though for through and vice versa.

Historia
In The Black Swan Taleb outlined a problem, and in Antifragile he offers a definitive solution: how to gain from disorder and chaos while being protected from fragilities and adverse events. For what Taleb calls the "antifragile" is actually beyond the robust, because it benefits from shocks, uncertainty, and stressors, just as human bones get stronger when subjected to stress and tension. The antifragile needs disorder in order to survive and flourish. Taleb stands uncertainty on its head, making it desirable, even necessary, and proposes that things be built in an antifragile manner.

This hardly rates being a book. It’s just a bunch of babbling against everything. Just say no.
