Historia
Dave Holmes has spent his life on the periphery, nose pressed hopefully against the glass, wanting just one thing: to get inside. Growing up, he was the artsy son in the sporty family. At his all-boys high school and Catholic college, he was the closeted gay kid surrounded by crush-worthy straight guys. And in his 20s, in the middle of a disastrous career in advertising, he accidentally became an MTV VJ overnight when he finished second, naturally, in the Wanna Be a VJ contest, opening the door to fame, fortune, and celebrity - you know, almost.

This Book Is For You
Revisado: 06-19-17
One of the best memoirs I've heard. All queer kids and adults should listen--it's comforting, funny, and feels like a support group without the drama of having to say anything.

Knox was born into one of the City's wealthiest families. A Patron, he has everything a boy could possibly want - the latest tech, the coolest clothes, and a Proxy to take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. And when Knox crashes a car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced to death. Syd is a Proxy. His life is not his own. Then again, neither is Knox's. Knox and Syd have more in common than either would guess.

perfectly fine

freedom, debt, social justice, and class issues in a cyber punk world. while I could agree with what was being said about social issues I wasn't particularly entertained or felt like I learned anything new. when there's only one theme in the novel it's hard to not feel beaten over the head by it. that said, I can see it being a very beneficial book for someone else.
