I have loved every single book in this series and this one is one of the best in the series. Kaylin really seems to grow in this volume. Her friends also grow and mature. Her sphere of influence is expanding and so are the troubles that she faces.
I loved that a problem that had been discovered and put aside in one of the first books is finally confronted in this one. The ending made tears come to my eyes, but you’ll have to read it for yourself to find out why. You won’t regret it!
My only issues were some minor inconsistencies in the storyline which kept me from giving a 5 star rating in the overall category. If there’s anyone who read the last one and wanted, or in my case did, scream “Wilson! His name was Wilson! Who the **** is Winston,” you’ll probably have a moment or two of this feeling. But the story is worth it.
Argh now I have to wait until next year for the next volume! 。・°°・(>_<)・°°・。

This book was great as the rest of the series. Unfortunately, the ending is the biggest cliffhanger so far in this series! I love the new character that’s introduced, the return of some of my old favorites, and the development of some of the old characters. The plot gets more intense and the problems more tangled.

I think I might just explode waiting for the next book. I knew it would be good so I held off reading it until now so that the wait for the next book wouldn’t be so long, but now I wish I’d waited even longer!
Khristine Hvam did an amazing job with the narration. She’s excellent at giving each character their own voice, or speaking speed, or age, or accent to differentiate them from each other. I look forward to more of her narrations.

This was an excellent telling of this play! I only wish I could have seen it live! I've seen several versions of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest and this one is certainly one of my favorites. I would love to hear more audio books like this.

This segment of the Chronicles of Elantra was great, as all of them have been. This book was one of the most tense in my opinion. I love that each book becomes more intense and the action more encompassing.
My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book and maybe a postponed dinner party. Well I guess I'll just have to pass the time relistening to the series from the beginning.

I bought this book wearily. The story seemed interesting but the narration was a little off putting. However, after a few minutes of listening the story took over my imagination and made this a great read. The characters of Ildiko and Brishen are strong, kind and lighthearted. The secondary characters were also interesting and multidimensional, a nice change from the flat characters of other authors I've recently read. The world Ms. Draven created was one of dark and light, beauty and horror.
I look forward to the next book in this series. Also, if you find that this story is a good fit for you may want to try Michelle Sagara's, Chronicles of Elantra series.

Loved Serapina, hated Shadow Scale

I loved Seraphina in the first book. She was inquisitive and earnest. She tried her hardest at everything. She was also quick witted.
In this book however, she seems to have lost all of that. She chooses the easiest option and mopes when things don't go her way. She spends most of the book ignoring the one thing she is repeatedly told to do. I also hated the ending. It was unfinished and lacking. The prologue hints at more of an ending than the epilogue.
