Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this book. The characters and story were shallow and not well developed. I never became invested in any of the four lead characters - which surprised me... This book and the story just didn't gel for me. The interaction between the men seemed sporadic and flaky for lack of a better word. I think that's what I felt was wrong with the book from the beginning - no substance; no foundation to build trust in the characters. Boom, here are these 3 guys who have "dark" needs and this chick who was acting as shady as they were... and the listener was just supposed to think everything is hunky dory and these deviant dudes are going to really mess with her - but they never do. Yeah, they enjoy kinky sex - but it almost seems gratuitous. It was weird the whole way through. Edge of my seat, but not in a good way. Just kept waiting for the fishing hook to bring me into the story and never got it.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Hoping for a R.L. Mathewson release soon...

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the narrators, all 4 of them. Sebastian York always knocks it out of the park.

Was Taking Turns worth the listening time?

Not really.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I started this series in paperback, went to Kindle copy then.. here I am - listening to it. Story never gets old.
It starts out sad.. bad things happen... then things get better and then better.. lots of angst and breast beating and OMG I'm so NOT this or that way... but in the end, it works out (yep.. HEA for now at least). Jayne introduces the "Men in Blue" team and gives us little glimpses of each character.. but not real depth in this first book..

What did you like best about this story?

It intrigued me enough with the back story of some of the characters I wanted to keep reading about them.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where Mason finally gave into his feelings and was with Tyler the first time with Lacey.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

HOT HOT HOT LOL

What disappointed you about The Alpha's Mail Order Mate?

For one- at what point did the Alpha ask for a bride?! I don't get the whole "mail order" thing at ALL.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing by this author and ESPECIALLY not the narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jigisha Patel’s performances?

NO.. absolutely not. I didn't even finish this one. It was painful to listen to her. I never could figure out WHY she was being so ridiculous about some parts and not on others. Was it when she was "acting?" it was a stutter stop method that hurt to listen to.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Alpha's Mail Order Mate?

So far - (I still have an hour to go but I had to stop listening because I was cursing the narrator) - none of it made sense. Why were they making treehouses? What's the point? and if they were going to open it up to everyone anyway, why not just DO that and not worry about being found out; Also, right.. a virgin would willingly just go willy-nilly into the woods with a bunch of guys and then "voila!" the head guy says spread em and she does?! Seriously? Beyond believeable and ridiculous.

What would have made Ryland better?

First pages - Ryland is a snarling, egotistical Alpha male with no regard, much less memory, of anyone less important than him. By the end of Chapter 1 he's in love and going to marry the heroine... HUH??? And the girl? She hates all men, they're all going to rape and pillage and by the end of Chapter 1 she's in love and having voluntary sex with the dude? Seriously? All the while being completely unconscious and recovering from bullet wounds because she's drinking freshly squeezed orange juice... LOL.. it was so ridiculous...

What was most disappointing about Kathi S. Barton’s story?

I kept waiting for a story... It never showed up - glancing passes as history, hop-skip-and-jump around between him, her, them. Alot of the "plot" points were never explained.

Would you be willing to try another one of Natalie Gray’s performances?

Absolutely not. Have you listened to her?

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ryland?

Basically, I'd re-write the whole book. The premise might have worked... if there was any depth, connection, or flow to the book. There isn't.

His to Command

Revisado: 05-15-13

What would have made His to Command better?

The story itself was decent; however, Kate was so wishy-washy and immature it was seriously annoying. Nothing could ever make her not love Matt - except two seconds later when he told her his big secret and boom, she's out the door. Where's the conviction? She trusts him completely - but the minute another female, one who has completely lied to her before, tells her a tale - she's all about "did he do that or not?" Where's the trust? Where's the love?

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

More of the same .. alot of fluff, no real substance.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I seriously don't like this narrator. I've listened to her with a couple of other books. The whiny sllimy voice is seriously annoying. I won't download another book with her as narrator.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The premise of the book, the bones, were good, which is why I purchased it to begin with. More depth to the characters, less fluff and nonsense, it would have been a good story.

Not so Wild Heat

What would have made Wild Heat better?

I was very disappointed in this book. Over 8 hours of 3 days in the life of Mya and Logan; and most of it was just filling - something to take more time. I found the dialogue ridiculous at some points .. "I want you so badly".. really? And let's not forget - after a hot sex session, while they're still gasping for breath in recovery - "I want to be completely honest with you." really? The premise was good, the execution very dreary. I didn't care for the narrator. While the voice was ok - the reading style was annoying. Took me almost a full week to actually listen to this one - I kept having to rewind and rewind to figure out what was going on because I'd zone out so much while listening..

What could Bella Andre have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Delete all the head trip crap that doesn't mean anything to the story -- I mean seriously - how many times can a main character say "I don't want to get involved with a firefighter" that lasts for 20 minutes??

How could the performance have been better?

The pauses, inflections - they really didn't work. Sounded deadpan "i love you." "yeah, I love you." weehaw.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The premise was good - hot firefighter, repressed fire investigator.. psychotic girlfriend wannabe .. could've worked... but didn't.

Good premise - poor execution

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No really. The premise is great - who doesn't want to be overtaken by a hot studly dom in an elevator on the way to work one day? But that's where it stops.. the main female character is whiny. Seriously whiny. And there's no depth... They're in the elevator, they're in the garage - then they're on the way to Paris.. say what? You get no sense of him at all - other than occasional glimpses.. and those aren't enough to endear him to anyone. So, no - don't think I'd recommend it..

Would you be willing to try another book from Sarah Fawkes? Why or why not?

Sure - I would like to find out what happens after they take off and "make him chase them".. but more for the closure than anything else..

How could the performance have been better?

This woman's performance was poor. I'm sorry - but I couldn't stand her voice - or her whiny-ness... it really grated on my nerves.

Do you think Anything He Wants needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Absolutely does -- what happened when they took off? Does Jeremiah EVER come out of whatever funk he's in and TELL her how he feels? DOES he feel? and does she actually fall for the brother?

What did you like best about Entertaining Mr Stone? What did you like least?

The storyline was titillating - which made me purchase it; but the female character was not endearing at ALL. I was more into Mr. Stone than the female character. She was just flat.

Would you ever listen to anything by Portia Da Costa again?

No.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Petra Kollander?

I really became annoyed at her voice for the female character when she was talking to others. It was a little girl, whiny voice.. ANNOYING!

What would have made this romance irresistible?

No idea. It was a good concept for a storyline; the male characters, especially Stone, were interesting - although the friend, Greg, was like a throwaway, oh-by-the-way, here's this kid that also wants to get in her pants, character.. whoopee; the female characters were, well, stupid. More depth? This seemed like a "I have an afternoon to while away writing a book and I'll just dash off this little something that may or may not happen in a workplace and make the female character as horny as possible"

Another wonderful book from Nora Roberts

Would you listen to The Perfect Hope again? Why?

I loved the final installation of the Inn Boonsboro trilogy. Mrs. Roberts always comes through with full-bodied characters and is able to give you insights from both the male and female main character's point of view. As with all her books, I definately will be re-reading/listening to this trilogy again.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that not only do you get to learn more about Hope and Ryder - but also get to stay in touch with the other main characters and what they're doing. And, I loved that Lizzie found her Billy... how wonderful.

What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't particularly care for his style of reading but after the first 2 chapters, I forgot about it. His gravelly Ryder was nice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ryder realized that Hope wanted to face her old boss herself - to have that closure herself. When she said that when she couldn't have talked him out of confronting him, she'd have gone with him.. that was a moment.
