Historia
After ten years of loyal service, Daisy Butterworth has been made redundant. Like any clever woman, she knows the cure to redundancy is a little too much wine and her best friend. Only the next morning, Daisy has more than a hangover...she has a whole new house—in France! Seeing this as an opportunity instead of a disaster, she’s excited about finally moving to France, just as she and her husband always dreamed of. However, Daisy is in for another surprise. Despite planning to move there for over 20 years, her husband never actually intended to go.

So much Potential!
Revisado: 04-15-25
I honestly didn’t finish it. I tried really hard because I liked the idea of the story, but the main character kept making the most dumb mistakes over and over. And you knew she was gonna make a dumb mistake before she made it every time . I just couldn’t read anymore of the stupidity. If you’re gonna move all the way to France, you need to be much more prepared and less vulnerable.

I didn’t like how ridiculously cruel her sister is and how long it took for her to get marginally stronger….

what’s not to love about a gargoyle who cooks French cuisine?!?
Revisado: 10-15-24
I have loved all the stories! It feels like they’ve become old friends, and I miss them until there’s a new book. I think we all wish we had a gargoyle for a best friend, especially one that cooks French cuisine❣️

I basically like the series but find Willy incredibly annoying!!!! arrgh!
The romance is also annoying because it’s so slow ! I get through the stories like you get through holidays with relatives…
you’re always gonna go back because you know them and love them, but they’re still going to annoy you !

The performance

this story was a little inconsistent in that it had a purring black kitten that charmed everyone, and then there was all the violence of the king chopping. Everybody's head off. They didn't go together very well.

A Fun Story, Incredibly wordy!
Revisado: 10-17-23
I love the premise of dragons, and the person who ends up with them is the least likely person you'd ever expect. This makes it interesting and funny
, but sometimes slow and tedious. I recommend this book, but just realize that sometimes you're going to roll your eyes, you just are.

Silly and Fun
Revisado: 04-20-23
I’m semi enjoying the stories but haven’t finished because when all the family starts acting like they’re 12 year olds and squeaking at each other’s boyfriends, I have to read something else for a while.
The books have a simple premise and I genuinely enjoy most of it, but the 20 year old cousins definitely act like 10-12 year olds and I gag a little….

Still Crazy After all These Years!
Revisado: 08-15-22
I have loved these stories and while some of them have had similar scenarios, Jodi Taylor’s wit and character building always keeps them fun and easy to travel with! Her incredible study of historical detail always amazes me….(even though I don’t have the knowledge to no if it’s accurate, and don’t really care) it’s totally entertaining! I sincerely hope that she keeps the stories going because the characters all feel like close friends at this point and I’d miss them terribly!
