Exciting book and enjoyable to listen to.
Revisado: 09-15-21
I bought this book for my Granddaughters to listen to in the car and found myself enjoying it as much as them. I can't wait until Audible comes out with more from this series. Definitely recommend this book for all ages.

Not a good choice
Revisado: 04-13-20
I love Robert Parker's books and thought I would try Raymond Chandler's. As a written book, they're not bad but as an audible book, definitely not my choice. Very dry listening. I should have returned it right away and didn't. My bad. Oh well, maybe I can help someone else not make the same decision I did.

Exciting, thrilling, suspenseful!!!!
Revisado: 11-07-18
I absolutely LOVE Thomas Perry’s books but his Jane Whitefield series are some of his best. The story line will keep you on the edge if your seat the whole time you listen. Joyce Bean’s performance of this book was a perfect match for Jane. Her smooth tones and sincere inflections were perfect. It’s like watching a thrilling movie in your mind with the freedom to move around and still see it.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 01-30-18
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I thought this book would be as interesting as another trilogy set I ordered along the same theme lines. Unfortunately it didn't hold my interest the same way. The reading was a little grinding on my senses. The overall theme kept me thinking of "The Music Man" and wondering where the author got their story line. I made the mistake and bought all three, now I need to try and return the other two. My recommendation is ONLY buy the first and if you like it, then buy the remaining ones. I should have taken my own advice.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Very predictable.
What didn’t you like about Veida Dehmlow’s performance?
Her voice, while smooth listening in a female character, was irritating when trying to voice the male version. I really had a hard time listening to it.
Did The Governess of Highland Hall inspire you to do anything?
no

Awesome book!!!!
Revisado: 05-28-15
I loved the whole story. I can't think of any part that I didn't like. Philippa Gregory is a master at historical fiction. She stays true to the time periods she writes in and adds that extra flare as a story teller. She brings out her characters (either real or fiction) in such a way as you feel as if you know them personally by the end of the book.
