Historia
Andrea Vernon always thought she would spend her life living in Paris writing thought-provoking historical novels all day and sipping wine on the Seine all night. But the reality is she's drowning in debt, has no prospects, and is forced to move back to Queens, where her parents remind her daily that they are very interested in grandchildren. Then, one morning, she is kidnapped, interviewed, and hired as an administrative assistant by the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection. Superheroes for hire, using their powers for good. What could possibly go wrong?

Great narration and likeable characters
Revisado: 06-30-24
Bahni knocks it out of the park with her hilarious performance, which brings out the equally hilarious and engaging story about the workings of the super hero business. An extremely great match with both narrator and author. Totally recommended.

Historia
More than a year after she helped save the world from the Sparnaxian invasion, Andrea Vernon is in a good place. Her boss is giving her greater responsibility and she’s getting to travel a lot (although her fill-in is hopeless at making coffee); things could be getting even more serious with her 8’ 4” superhero boyfriend, The Big Axe; and she has a really fun new BFF, Never More. Small issue, though, with that last item - Never More is a supervillain bent on world domination, and it looks as if nothing can stop her.

Super excellent story and narration
Revisado: 06-19-24
Very wacky, and witty, and excellently narrated. Listening at 1.7x, at least for me, added a zany tempo that enhanced my enjoyment.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

Empty of story
Revisado: 10-12-23
After a few hours of listening, I came to the conclusion that this book doesn't have any story. The narrator uses an annoying high pitch voice and all she does is mention how to level herself up in this fictional world. Sure, I haven't looked at the ending if it redeems itself later, but unfortunately, it already earned my ire for being empty of anything aside from describing the rules of a generic litrpg world, and thus, wasting my time.

Very insightful but flawed
Revisado: 01-22-23
With the recent introduction of OpenAI's ChatGPT, I believe the level of introspection on the power of AIs increased. For something that was written a few years earlier, the author shows a plausible outcome of the future of AI. Maybe it's because it didn't do the usual Terminator, or the dictatorial AI leader plotline, that I found the world the author created somewhat insightful. The book described a world where immortality through technology was possible so an order of killers are accepted by society to keep the population in check. This is where the flaw happens, because, as others have already said, there are better ways to limit population than using sanctioned killers. It is quite easy though, to be swept by the book and imagine a possible future where the hubris of man led to a society like this, especially if the reader is young and has less worldly knowledge, or gets in a tunnel vision and may take much longer to find the flaws.
The narration was great and I liked the story, but at the same time, it was a bit slow so it did not make me eager to get to the next part. Maybe I would be harsher if I read this instead of listening to it.

Historia
Lindon has a year left. When his time runs out, he’ll have to fight an opponent that no one believes he can beat. Unless he learns sacred arts the right way, from scratch, he won’t have a chance to win...and even then, the odds are against him. In the course of their training, he and Yerin travel to the Blackflame Empire, where they fight to master an ancient power left behind by a fallen clan. This is Lindon’s chance to learn a true Path, but there are those who do not wish to see these lost techniques revived.

Exhilarating adventure
Revisado: 01-05-20
Could not stop. Kept listening until 5 in the morning until I finished it. The narrator is so good, especially the way he portrayed Eithan's arrogant tone. Lindon and Yerrin continue to improve their arts and are put into very tough situations that they struggle to overcome. So far, the story doesn't let up and keeps me engaged and I can't wait to start on the next one.

Wonderful story similar to wuxia novels but much more original (at least from the few generic ones I've read). Narrator has distinctive voices for all characters and performed them all very well.

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.

Cringeworthy male power trip fantasy game lit
Revisado: 09-29-19
it's not actually game-lit. it's super hero-lit, but the protagonist has access to a stats screen for all his 'party' and can manipulate it, which is typical of the game lit genre. He also gets a harem of super powered slave girls. Anyway, it was entertaining enough in the beginning, but as his power grew, the story started to go through the usual tropes that this genre suffers from.

The ads enthused, "The virtual lands of Mirror World await you! Live out your most secret dreams in our world of Sword and Sorcery! Become a Great Wizard or a Famous Warrior! Build your own castle, tame a dragon, conquer a kingdom! All those desperate, lonely, and insecure - Mirror World offers you a chance!" But Oleg isn't meant to become a great wizard or a famous warrior. He'll never have a castle of his own. Nor will he ever tame a dragon. And he's definitely not the type to conquer a kingdom, however virtual it may be.

Engrossing story
Revisado: 05-15-18
If you like RPG lit, this is quite good. Narration is well done and the pace of the story was quite quick. Of course, like most of these type of stories, there is a certain amount of luck that tends to happen to the hero. At least he does use his insight to solve some of his problems.
Oleg needs money to pay for his daughter's operation, and getting employment inside the RPG virtual world could be a quick way to allow him to ask for a loan from the bank. warning, the story ends in a cliff hanger.

Well acted, light humour. Got a few laughs from me, but overall, I didn't get intensely invested in the characters so only getting average stars from me.
