An Era forgotten
Revisado: 03-05-24
I finished The Women last week as others have mentioned it takes a bit of time to put words down as to the feelings experienced! I was so enthralled in the story and felt so disappointed on how our veterans Vietnam soldiers and medical nurses were treated. I had just graduated from HS and was entering college I was in my own world looking forward to my future. I did learn more but after reading this book I felt so sad for not getting more knowledgeable! I pray those nurses and soldiers find a way to forgive all of us who should have been louder. Ms Hannah your writing made me visualize the loss in your characters lives and their daily challenges. I thank you for your book I will recommend it highly you continue to be my favorite author!

Historia
Father Jonah Barlow is dead. The respected Jesuit scholar of apocalyptic studies might have died from a fall in his apartment...or was he pushed? All that is known for sure is that the provocative manuscript he was working on—a book that promised to reveal the upcoming fulfillment of ancient and recent prophecies, including the shocking Third Secret of Fatima—is missing. Two female detectives take on the investigation as a possible homicide, turning to Vatican archivist Father Michael Dominic for his help, since Barlow sent the young priest the only other copy of the manuscript.

Historia
Though Michelle Miller was an award-winning broadcast journalist for CBS News, few people in her life knew the painful secret she carried: her mother had abandoned her at birth. Los Angeles in 1967 was deeply segregated, and her mother—a Chicana hospital administrator who presented as white, had kept her affair with Michelle’s father, Dr. Ross Miller, a married trauma surgeon and Compton’s first Black city councilman—hidden, along with the unplanned pregnancy. Raised largely by her father and her paternal grandmother, Michelle had no knowledge of the woman whose genes she shared. Then, fate intervened when Michelle was twenty-two. As her father lay stricken with cancer, he told her, “Go and find your mother.”

I have been a fan for many years watching Michelle on CBS morning Saturday so when her book was announced I knew I had to read/listen I was taken into her story as if I was walking along side her listening to her voice describe her life was so heartfelt through tears, laughter, and her antics and guts, I absolutely loved the entire experience. She will remain a favorite person to me. Thank you Michelle for giving us a part of you!
