A Unsung Classic
Revisado: 12-15-20
I first read this book back in the mid-1980s, as a child fascinated by all things dragons and unicorns. It's a wonderful romp, with a clever protagonist and vegetarian dragons who need rescuing from time to time. I highly recommend this book for children as young as 4 who enjoy adventures with a friend of a winged sort.

So, at the age of 13, the boy receives his true name - Ged - and gives himself over to the gentle tutelage of the Master Ogion. Childhood Favorite
Revisado: 05-16-20
In addition to enjoying this particular narrator, I was thrilled to revisit the world of Earthsea while traveling lately. There is a vast richness in every world she creates, but not overwhelming. Ged's childhood to his final encpunter with his own personal demon (literally, in this case) not only is a feast for the story told, but the many possibilities within. Truly a pleasure to read as a child, and a comfort to revisit as an old friend, keeping me company on my trip.

even better
Revisado: 02-19-20
I enjoyed the first book, so when the second turned out to be a series of vignettes giving deeper understanding of the men under Gaunt's command, I was intrigued, and once finished, gratified. I will in all likelihood be buying this in hardcopy as well.

That's a wrap! Riveting story
Revisado: 06-01-19
The narrator was fantastic, her delivery really brought the characters to life, but then, when you have a great story to tell matched with a great narrator it comes so naturally.
Maxwell Kane has had a rough morning and all he wants is to eat his meal - but no, that is to be denied him and in true action hero style one encounter leads to another, and another, and like Stairway to Heaven each action builds, crescendo upon crescendo, leaving the reader/listener gasping for breath as our heroes leave a love letter to destruction across the city of San Pita.
The only thing missing from this book is a recipe for making the perfect carne asada for your own burrito.
5 out of 5 stars, will be recommending this to all of my friends.

Classic Anne McCaffery, sets up a world as exotic as it is familiar. Telepathic dragons, a world imperiled by an ancient and alien threat, an unlikely heroine and heroes in an era when they are most needed.

some are tragedies
Revisado: 01-06-18
Some stories have happy endings, and in an odd way this one does as well, although it over all feels like a tragedy that even the Greeks would be proud of.

Historia
After inciting rebellion against Earth throughout Titan's off-world colonies, Kale Trass learns that leadership isn't only about fighting. Keeping control of his people--even his own family--requires a different set of skills. Following a pivotal battle over Saturn, Kale travels deep into enemy territory under the guise of seeking peace, though peace is the last thing on his mind. Malcolm Graves used to be an infamous Collector for a powerful Earther corporation--and then he nearly lost his life on Titan. Now he's retired. But when Kale's wake of destruction follows Malcolm to Mars and claims the life of a friend, it's time for the ex-Collector to dust off his pulse-pistol and leap back into a fight he thought he'd left behind. With the solar system divided, heroes are few and short-lived ... but someone has to put the self-proclaimed King Trass of Titan in his place.
