Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Just perfect Trevor! It brought tears to my eyes.
Revisado: 01-13-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Born a Crime to be better than the print version?
Didn't read the print version because of my disability.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I was most touched by his "go Hitler' dance story, his mother's hospital stay at the end and his boyish decision that the kitchen floor is a perfectly good place to poop for little kids. I told several friends that these stories brought tears to my eyes.
What does Trevor Noah bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His voice brings added depth and perception to the horrors he experiences, the same as color adds a dimension not present with black and white video.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Make the world great again? oh never mind.

Historia
After the War of the Gods, the demons were cast out and fell to the world. Mankind was nearly eradicated by the seemingly unstoppable beasts until the gods sent the great hero, Ramrowan, to save them. He united the tribes, gave them magic, and drove the demons into the sea. Ever since, the land has belonged to man, and the oceans have remained an uncrossable hell, leaving the continent of Lok isolated.

One dimensional hero?
Revisado: 03-31-16
My prior books by this author coupled him with Oliver Wyman as narrator and that was a stunning combination, as I enjoyed their MBI series numerous times. This did not have that splashes of humor or unexpected surprises, nor the versatility of narrator. These Heroes were doggedly plodding in book one. The narrator didn't have much to with which to work.

Simply too dark. Gifted writer and skilled narrator. A few too many writing cliches used felt like "lazy" author ....and felt unnecessary.

Uh uh. It don't work
Revisado: 11-09-15
Perhaps it's American bias, but an American elf living in San Diego with an Irish accent proved to be a bit much. Not sure if it's the narrator or the storyline but it doesn't work.

Never have I seen a second book of a trilogy deliver so much. Extremely happy with this book.
I agree with a prior reviewer the accent used for the fool was not a pleasant choice. Can't wait for the next one.

Revisado: 08-06-15
What made the experience of listening to Three the most enjoyable?
It was well written and hit many hi-points that make a story thrilling but not boring.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Not.at.all.happy. with the ending. At All!!! I don't know what the author was thinking.
Any additional comments?
I was going to buy the third book but after this ending of book 1 I will wait on buying book 3.

Please get Steven Pacey back
Revisado: 07-06-15
It's hard introducing a new narrator to an author /narrator duo where their previous history has made a memorable footprint. The new guy is just a place setter while we hope Steven Pacey returns. Not fair to the new narrator or die hard Abercrombie readers.
I remember how I savored beginning a novel with that author/narrator combo. They were each better together than apart.
Please get Steven back.

The best Mercy novel so far
Revisado: 03-19-14
What did you love best about Night Broken?
Patricia Briggs writing has improved over time such that book elements; the ex-wife plot device were unlikely, but so very clever; exciting and fun and made the book pop. This book was great fun and moved fast. Sorry to see this one end. This story made me want to start over on book 1 to enjoy the story from the beginning.
What did you like best about this story?
Liked the way old elements from past books were weaved into this story to achieve a great deal more "ah hah!" impact and story built intensity. Did a lot in punching the story up. Frankly the prior appearances of coyote, the Fae and the walking stick were never that impressive before the way it was done in book 8. Now it is done here with such impact it makes it come together significantly with book #8.

One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls - a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just "troubled". Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side - learning to harness their powers, control their magic, and live in the normal world. Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she?

Interesting take on a well chewed story
Revisado: 03-07-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes if they are craving Twilight/Harry Potter type listen. Also Its fine for a $4.95 sale. The downside is, as a YA story there is an insufferable amount of whining that bogs the story down at times. Not sure whining was out of place for a YA story. Not sure I would spend full credits on future stories in this series if the whining doesn't shrink its percentage of the overall story.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It is unclear what type of supernatural the heroine is going to be identified is the most interesting and how it is laid out in the story.
The least interesting is the repetitiveness of the whining and navel lint gazing that occurs.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
It was satisfactory.
Could you see Born at Midnight being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Depends on where the story goes, its too early to say at book 1.
