Flawed is the 2nd book in the Triple Canopy series and Trey and Adalynn's story. This book broke me in a good way. In fact, the first interaction between Trey and Addy was so gut-wrenching that I wondered if I could listen to the whole story. I'm so glad I did. Addy is Trey's physical therapist at the VA and you can tell right away, there's something more than patient/therapist between them. Trey was hurt in the line of duty and he's got a ton of anger and disappointment now that he's no longer a part of his SEAL Team. He is broken and so wrapped up in feeling sorry for himself that he can't see what's right in front of him or that he still has his life in front of him. Also, he's fighting his attraction to Adalynn.

Addy is also fighting an attraction to Trey. And she also has her own baggage from failed relationships. She's known as the quiet twin and while Trey thinks she has a perfect life, there's a secret trauma he doesn't know about. When he finally opens his eyes and really sees her, he realizes he's made an idiotic decision in turning her away. He witnesses something happening with her ex-boyfriend and his protective instincts flare to life. What I loved about Trey and Addy together is how they complement each other. They help each realize that their flaws are beautiful and I loved their whole journey.

What I love about this story is while it has suspense, there's more emphasis on how these two connected. I cried a lot during this story. The narrators did a fantastic job imparting the pain and emotion of Ms. Riley's words. Flawed gets 5 stars from me and I can't wait for the next story.

Damaged is the first book in the Triple Canopy series. I love first books because a whole new world opens up or a previous series that I didn't want to let go of continues, just with additional people. Since I just read or should I say listened to The Next Generation series, I'm all for more Riley Edward characters.

This story tells the journey of Brady Hewitt and Hadley Walker. Because there is a seven-year age gap between them, they have been in love with each for a while but didn't pursue each other due to Brady's hangups, namely her age, he works for her father, and feels like he is damaged. But now, Hadley is twenty-four and she knows what she wants and that is Brady. I loved seeing them get together. There is a ton of love, chemistry, humor, and suspense in their story. Hearing Hadley come into her own and Brady work through everything was wonderful although listening to Brady deal with his issues caused me some tears so prepare. :)

I'm so excited for the rest of the series! 5 stars for Brady and Hadley.

So, if you're a reader then you've probably heard of a book hangover. If you haven't, then read this book and you will know what it is firsthand. There are so many emotions wrapped up in this story that I doubt I'll be able to get it across in this review but I'm going to try. Before I begin, I'm going to add a disclaimer, which is when you start to read this book, make sure you have a loads of tissues because you are going to need them!

Holden and Charleigh were in love eight years ago, but he didn't believe he was right for her so he gave her up, thinking she wouldn't be happy with him because he didn't believe he could have a family. Why do men do this?! Unfortunately, he got what he asked for and she moved on except it was with someone he never expected, one of his teammates. To make matters worse, that teammate is killed in action, leaving Charleigh alone with a daughter. After his death, Charleigh decides she is done paying for her mistake and is going back to fight for Holden. She takes her daughter and moves to Maryland. I'm not sure what she expected to happen. Let's just say I wasn't a fan of Charleigh's for a good portion of the book especially when she says she married his teammate without knowing him very well. What?! However, I started warming up to her after a bit. She made a stupid decision but I recognized that she really loved him.

On top of the emotions from Charleigh, you have so many more from Holden. His guilt was all-consuming. Listening to him try to navigate this situation, wondering what was the right thing to do, the hatred he felt, etc., I have never cried so much in my life! I had to stop listening at a few places and get myself together. Of course, I get very wrapped up in books and characters so...
Not that Holden was perfect. Sooo many times I yelled at my Kindle. (I got a few strange looks from my husband). But, once he finally got himself together and made a decision to let Charleigh in, I loved their relationship and the way he interacted with Faith.

Riley Edwards, if you read this, I'm still deciding if we can be friends, lol. No, I'm kidding. I loved this book with all the crazy emotions, the twisting tale of betrayal and forgiveness, suspense, love, passion, etc. Throw in the family dynamic of the Gemini group and you have a fantastic book. I can't wait to listen to Jonny's story. The narrators are so great! They really bring the characters to life.

Alec Hall's life as he knows it is over. Suddenly he's a father to a baby girl whose name is Jossy. He never thought he would be a father or have a family. But now, he has to step up because Jossy's mother passed away and he is all she has. Of course, he has support from his friends and their women. Alec's next surprise is meeting Macy, a caregiver at Joss's daycare. He likes her and is attracted to her but she isn't interested. This isn't a surprise given her past. Macy recently left her abusive husband and she is trying to take care of her kids and get her life back on track. Men are not high on her list when it comes to trust. Her ex-husband not only cheated on her but left her in debt to dangerous loan sharks. One of these guys decides to take out his ire on her and attacks her. Alec steps in, knowing her can't follow his earlier plan to stay away her from. She needs his protection.

So much happens in this story. Drive-bys, parental kidnapping, etc., but Alec is determined to show Macy that he is there for her and her kids. I have to take a moment and say single dad romances are my favorite trope. His interactions with all of the kids melted my heart. And he and Macy heated up my kindle, lol. But it isn't just physical, their connection is real and beautiful. I loved Alec's Dream so much. It's definitely one that I will listen to again. Congratulations, Riley Edwards, on a 5 star book. I can't wait to listen to more. BTW, not only is the story wonderful, but the narrators are fantastic.

I love this modern take of a marriage of convenience that quickly turns into love. Luke and Allie were perfect together and Jeremy and Jessica stole my heart. As usual, the story is well-written and the suspense factor is awesome. 5 stars!!

Nick and Meadow!

I was excited to listen to Saving Meadow, the story of FBI agent, Nicholas Clark, and Meadow Holiday, the victim of a horrible attack by a serial killer. Nick was in Nolan and Reagan's book, Freedom, in the 707 series. and since I read about him as a kid, I couldn't wait to get to know him as an adult. Nick becomes an FBI agent and due to his performance as well as his observation skills, he gets the chance to become a part of the Behavioral Analysis Unit aka the BAU. If you don't know what that is, think of Criminal Minds and there you go.

Nick's first case is tracking a serial woman who is targeting women, killing them, and mutilating their faces. Although Nick and the BAU work the case, it goes cold and there is no activity from the killer for four years. After all that time, another killing takes place. Is this person a copycat or has the killer returned?

Meadow is the first victim and although she lived, her face is scarred from the attack. Due to the trauma, she went through and the scarring, she has little confidence in herself and is afraid to put herself out there. I've seen some reviews calling her a doormat, but please, that is so not true. If I were in her shoes, I wouldn't even leave the house or possibly my bedroom. She goes to work and tries to live a somewhat normal life. To help her get through each day, she has an online relationship with a woman named Veronica and Beckie, from the coffee shop where she sees Nick, but doesn't approach him. However, when the killer returns, they're thrown together.

I loved how patient Nick was with Meadow. She blossomed under his caring and attention, making her understand her scar didn't define her. I liked that they built a relationship together. Saving Meadow is a well-written story with strong characters. There's a ton of suspense yet it didn't take away from Nick and Meadow's romance. I will say that there were times the narrator's voice scared me to death, lol. I thought both narrators did an amazing job. 5 stars to the author and the narrators. I can't wait to listen to the next story.

Sawyer Bennett is second to none in writing hockey romance. I love everything she's written, especially in this sub-genre. But, this is my new favorite of all of her books. I've wanted to know Coen's story since the beginning of the Titans' series. Definite re-listen for me. 5 stars!
