This was one of the best books I have ever read!! hands down it should be an award winner, and I'm sure it will remind you why laughter, song and dance are the best medicine for love, courage, and connection. That we are all searching for that thing that makes you feel alive. Hold it, even when the world has their judgements and opinions. Learn mental health principles to be a better human. but hold on to it!! That a revolution of people that follow their dreams would change the world, and it starts with you. With us. So, let's Dance!!

In this third book in the thrilling and epic Book of the Ancestor trilogy from international best-selling author Mark Lawrence, powerful novice Nona Grey must fight to survive in "a fantastic world in which religion and politics are dark and sharp as swords, with magic and might held in the hands of wonderful and dangerous women".

Great narrator, Garbage plot.
Revisado: 06-04-19
The first two books in this series are amazing. They keep suspense, they have a healthy amount of action, and they keep characters intact, flaws and all. But this third book, I can't tell if the author got in a rush, became bored with the story, or stopped caring. Every single character returns to their original, flat, 1-dimensional childish form that we met in book 1. Every progression becomes overly predictable with no suspense because each movement is overly foreshadowed. This book honestly reads like it was made by someone who can't end a series, which is weird because Mark Lawrence tends to write wonderful conclusions to each story, at least as far as I've read of his works.
The narrator, however, was amazing as always. I don't know where audible finds these people, but the narrators they find are truly perfect.

Historia
The White Lich has conquered Tanar Atain. Soon, he means to take the entire world. Dante suspects his next target will be Bressel, where the Tanarians have established their court in exile. The only chance to stop the lich will be to forge a fragile alliance between the bitter enemies of three different lands: Tanar Atain, Mallon, and Narashtovik. The city stands on the brink of rebellion. Yet even if Dante, Blays, and Gladdic can unite it, they still might not have the strength to stand against the army of the lich.

I love this author and narrator combination. between the author's humor and the narrator's ability to voice it perfectly, I could listen to these books for the next 10 years and still laugh at every last quip or turn of phrase spoken.

Vaelin Al Sorna, warrior of the Sixth Order, called Darkblade, called Hope Killer. The greatest warrior of his day, and witness to the greatest defeat of his nation: King Janus' vision of a Greater Unified Realm drowned in the blood of brave men fighting for a cause Vaelin alone knows was forged from a lie. Sick at heart, he comes home, determined to kill no more. Named Tower Lord of the Northern Reaches by King Janus's grateful heir, he can perhaps find peace in a colder, more remote land far from the intrigues of a troubled Realm.

I love a good story with an asshole as the hero.
Revisado: 05-31-15
Would you listen to Tower Lord again? Why?
Yes. The plot had depth, and if you missed even a few seconds, you were lost for the next 10 minutes. The villains had depth, the main characters were flawed, and the world in which the story takes place is both magical and primeval leaving the reader with a gritty, I need to take a shower, feeling afterwards.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Tower Lord?
Vaelin meeting the bear people. This scene was without a doubt truly amazing. It exposed a deeper plot, revealed a kinder side to Valen, forced conflict into the people who follow him, and set the world up for getting much larger.
What aspect of Steven Brand’s performance would you have changed?
Honestly, he made the shield too noble and the king too intense. That being said, all in all, Steven Brand is now one of the narrators I look for when searching for a new series.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The king's assassination. Ryan made you love that guy in the first book and continued to make you respect him in the second. On top of that, the fact that he made Frentis kill the king. Frentis loved the king, respected him, wanted nothing more than to see him succeed, and Ryan made Frentis kill him. I loved it and almost cried at the same time.
Any additional comments?
Definitely watching out for the next book/series/anything that Ryan writes. He truly has a fan in me.

Obvious plot, pretty generic story, great narrator
Revisado: 05-31-15
Would you listen to Circle of Reign again? Why?
Maybe. Honestly, I already knew that as the first book in the series, it would be a little slow while fleshing out the world and introducing the characters. The characters, while entertaining are obvious and not really thought out with typical excuses for this being that "it's in their nature." I might read it again if for some reason I find myself at work with absolutely nothing else to read.
What was most disappointing about Jacob Cooper’s story?
The characters. Mainly the villains. Cooper took a lot of time fleshing out the main characters and their reasoning, but left the villains to the, "It's in their nature," explanation. This is a very common tactic giving the author essentially free reign to have that character do any number of insane and stupid things without any real reason or explanation behind it. Essentially his main characters are very fourth dimensional flowing logically, if not typically, through the story, while his villains are barely two dimensional and only doing things that get in the way of the main characters rather than actually posing a real threat to them.
Which scene was your favorite?
The war scene at the end of the book was the most detailed about any of the characters. Rain was showing how immature she is, Hedrin showed his ability to mature on the turn of a dime, and the villain actually had depth to his character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed, but mostly at the overpowered sidekick who was designed to father Hedrin into lordship.
Any additional comments?
If you are looking for a light read that you really don't have to pay attention to, this is perfect. However, if you are looking for a detailed, extravagant, wonderful, have to listen for 4 hours at a time story, look somewhere else.
The author is clearly no Brandon Sanderson, but could be considered a very young and inexperienced Gail Z. Martin.
