Eve and Maggie Abbott are desperate. Out of money, and options, they are forced to move into one very old house. It happens to have belonged to their dead grandmother, but the rent is cheap, and the location is killer. That last sentence is a joke, unless you're into a "middle of nowhere" vibe - and cows.

Cliffhanger with no sequel in sight
Revisado: 06-11-22
The story was good, with a whole new sci-fi twist and a cast of interesting characters. Then, WHAM…….it’s over! Cliffhanger! So I went online to research the author in order to see when the next book will be available and there is absolutely nothing to be found. No mention anywhere of book #2 in the works. Don’t buy unless the sequel is available.

Historia
Historical romance novelist Kate Inskip needs a break. Divorced, overworked, and completely stressed out, her writing buddies decide to surprise her with exactly what she needs - a vacation on a remote island that boasts a rich history and a crumbling castle built by an 18th-century pirate. But things don't go according to plan. A long flight, lost luggage, and a missed connection leave Kate wishing she'd stayed home. And a knife-wielding mugger is the last straw.

Light romance ruined by narrator
Revisado: 06-07-21
I picked this title, on sale, as a light summer romance. The narrator was so TERRIBLE that listening to this book was only good for putting me to sleep. While not great literature, this could have been a nice romance to read at the beach. Instead, we were stuck with a narrator who's style was so grating, who was so bad at reading the different characters, that it was on very unpleasant experience.

Historia
When I was 17, I disappeared. I walked out the door of my apartment with a backpack and never looked back. I left the life of Cora Mitchell behind, seeking freedom from my real-life nightmare. But my freedom came with a cost. I lived a fictitious life for the next six years, never letting anyone close enough to see underneath the façade that was Andra Walker. I was content with my simple little life. Until I met Julian.

Two for one!
Revisado: 11-13-20
The general idea of the book is good and the narrators did a good job. I also appreciate the fact that there was a growing romance and the author didn't need to use graphic sex scenes to advance that part of the story. However, it takes two books to come to a conclusion, when one book would have been just fine. Way too much filler material material that really didn't advance the plot in book one and book two just wrapped up everything very quickly at the very end and was unsatisfying. A bit more attention to the conclusion would have made for a much better read.

A good idea to start with . . .
Revisado: 08-28-20
This sounded like a fun light read for some summer distraction. However, one big distraction was the narrator. More than once she pronounced the word "epitome" (E Pit Oh Me) as Eh Puh Tome. But the story line was also a big distraction. What started off with the promise a 40 year old english teacher finding love with a man 10 years her junior turn into a weird story with a slightly stalker-ish man and a woman desperate for love. Story was poorly done and ending fast and unsatisfying.

Almost not a Linda Darby Mystery
Revisado: 08-24-20
Really enjoyed the first 2 books in the series, but then the story line took a weird turn in book three, which I found to be ridiculous. Book four comes along and the story is so unrelated to the first two books that I fail to understand why it was included in the series.

Historia
With the famous rhubarb festival right around the corner, small-town tensions, tempers, and godly tantrums are at an all-time high. The last thing Delaney needs is her ex-boyfriend reappearing just when she's finally caught the attention of Ryder Bailey, the one man she should never love. No, scratch that. The actual last thing she needs is a dead body washing ashore, especially since the dead body is a god.

Gods vacation as mortals in a small Oregon town.
Revisado: 06-09-20
In a small costal town, gods and other supernatural creatures are living as mortals (while blending in with an unknowing population) and are protected by a lady sheriff. The lady sheriff, Delaney Reed and her two sister are from the long line of Reeds, who have overseen the town called Ordinary for generations and control the comings and goings of all the non-mortal residents.
Things begin to unravel when an old flame returns to town and a murdered vampire is discovered with mystical glyphs, written in blood, all over the body. The hunt for the murdered begins and it is finally revealed that there is a plot for evil to take over the town. The story is resolved in the third and final book.
I enjoyed this mini-series. The story idea is original, the characters are interesting and the narrator does an excellent job. I enjoyed the series and will try other books by Devon Monk. HOWEVER, the narrator mispronounce the name of "Thanatos" EVERY SINGLE TIME. And Thanatos was a major character and mentioned often. Why didn't Ms Hvam check this out before recording? It wan't once, it wasn't twice . . . . . it was dozens of times. So very distracting. Only goes to show that there are no editors paying attention, or they aren't doing their job.

Historia
Dave Rubin launched his political talk show The Rubin Report in 2015 as a meeting ground for free thinkers who realize that partisan politics is a dead end. He hosts people he both agrees and disagrees with - including those who have been dismissed, deplatformed, and despised - taking on the most controversial issues of our day. As a result, he’s become a voice of reason in a time of madness. Now, Rubin gives you the tools you need to think for yourself in an age when tribal outrage is the only available alternative.

A calm voice above the screaming masses.
Revisado: 05-04-20
Dave Rubin, a self-described "Classical Liberal" writes about his gradual conversion from a the political Far Left to a more moderate, even conservative point of view. While he may still believe in Pro-Choice and is anti Capitol Punishment, many other ideas have changed over the years after experience and observation taught him some important truths.
Mr. Rubin has been on TV and Cable for a few years and now has the " Rubin Report" on YouTube. He will interview absolutely anyone from any point of the political spectrum. He is always friendly and polite, asking smart questions, not "gotcha" questions in the attempt to have a real conversation. And, hopefully, the guests articulate their personal philosophies so he can better understand their points of view. The end result is this book, which I enjoyed very much.

A different kind of heroine.
Revisado: 05-04-20
I found this book on sale and had no expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised and will try other books by this author.
Our heroine, Gretch is an underachiever and obsessed with Shaquille O'Neal and his desertion of his Florida team for the glory of the LA Lakers. She also happens to be one of the "Orlando People"; a person who was born with telekinetic powers. When she becomes a witness to a bizarre murder, her whole life changes. She ends up helping an rogue FBI agent solve the mystery of what turns out to be a huge conspiracy within the FBI proving that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page aren't the only baddies at the FBI.
An interesting story, wonderful characters. I hope there is a follow-up.

Del Sol, New Mexico is known for three things: its fry-an-egg-on-the-cement summers, its strong cups of coffee - and, now, a nationwide manhunt? Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff - thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her - and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. But a teenage girl is missing, a kidnapper is on the loose, and all of this is reminding Sunshine why she left Del Sol in the first place.

Another wonderful heroine from Ms. Jones!
Revisado: 05-04-20
If you liked Charlie Davidson, you'll love Sunshine Vicram. She's moved back home and is now the town sheriff. There are plenty of colorful characters that promise to add lots of laughs in the future and a hunky US Marshall to add plenty of heat.
We are treated to Ms. Jones trademark snappy, snarky dialogue along with lots of laughs when she isn't busy chasing down a kidnapper, or trying to deny the intense chemistry with the Marshall.
My only complaint is that I'll have to wait a year for the next installment,

Fun adventure but the narrator kills it!
Revisado: 01-04-20
An all around fun story about a woman who accidentally gets involved in an espionage plot, while being pursued by three teen admirers, a mother constantly playing matchmaker and a twin sister who steals her dates.
BUT, this book has one of the worst readers in the Audible library. Like nails on a chalkboard. Makes one wonder who she knows because it is the only explanation why she was given the job. It was a real struggle to finish.
