Great book! I'm learning about flipping homes because I'm preparing to sell my own older home and need to identify and prioritize (and do) the types of renovations/updates that will add value prior to listing it.

Author Elisa Zheng Covington, MBA, is an experienced "flipper" who carefully and thoroughly describes considerations in selecting properties for potential renovation, as well as "watch outs" throughout the fix and flip process. One tip: When having renovation work performed by a contractor, you'll save money by buying the materials yourself.

She describes her design approach (neutral colors and a somewhat minimalist look) along with the types of products she prefers during renovation to provide quality updates while not overspending. As someone updating an older home, I found the author's product recommendations extremely helpful because I'm not sure how I'd know about some of these products otherwise. Ms. Covington provides actionable tips that left me feeling encouraged and enthusiastic.

Along with being an author, Ms. Covington has a very informative youtube channel showing before and after views of homes she's renovated.

This audiobook was well-narrated. I mainly listened while driving to and from working at my old house, and only occasionally needed to refer to the accompanying PDF later.

A very interesting book recommended to real estate investors and homeowners wanting to learn more about home renovation.

In the past, I'd seen this series and always thought to myself, "I'm just not that interested in Lyndon Johnson." Now that I know how interesting this book is, what a fascinating narration of recent U.S. history it is, I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. I found Grover Gardner to be the perfect narrator for this content. Highly recommended.

Very interesting book that illuminates the dark side of technology. As I listened, I thought about how I use technology and some ways I should change my approach. Although I initially borrowed this audiobook from Scribd, I've since purchased it so I can listen again. Highly recommended.

Disclosure: I received this book as part of a promotion.

I'm not generally a fan of the Western genre but thought this might be a good listen, and it was! It's a suspenseful Western, although not as dark as a Cormac McCarthy story. Oliver Wyman's narration is spot on and makes this audiobook even more enveloping. I'd listen again, it was that entertaining. Recommended.

I enjoyed Deconstruction. I went along for the ride in a world turned upside down, wallowing in the uncertainty and seeking to survive. Stephen Sander's narration was excellent and enhanced the story.

*When they go low, we go high.* This book is a breath of fresh air in the current environment of fake news, government officials enriching themselves at taxpayer expense and seeming moral decay.

*I'm an ordinary person who found herself on an extraordinary journey.* Michelle Obama describes her life, including being a politician's wife and first lady. She strikes me as an introvert, worn out by the constant attention (and often, criticism) inherent in political life -- she didn't want the fame and attention Barack's presidency brought. And she's candid about her life choices, including choosing to become a lawyer and then regretting it. She recounts trying to escape the White House. If I were in a situation where my movements were limited, I too can imagine trying to escape.

I didn't know much about Michelle Obama before this book, and found this book very interesting.

This is a fascinating read, and it felt especially timely during the recent Kavanaugh hearings.

Kornacki describes events in the 80's and 90's as having led to the political impasses we're currently experiencing in the U.S. He especially calls out Newt Gingrich as contributing to our current political environment, although Gingrich certainly isn't alone. (Personally, I thought Gingrich's use of C-Span to obtain greater visibility was ingenious.) I found The Red and The Blue to be well-narrated and worthwhile. Kornacki describes the past but I'd also be interested in how he thinks we can heal our current political divide... perhaps that will be his next book. Highly recommended.

A "must listen" for Hammond fans

A few years ago, I started reading "God, If You're Not There" on my Kindle. I abandoned it after a few pages, shocked by the dissonance between my image of Darrell Hammond and the reality. (Naive, I know.) Last week, when Audible released the audiobook narrated by the author, I decided to give this book another try. I'm glad I did.

"God, If You're Not There" is about Darrell Hammond's life, both the highs and the lows. He describes his struggle with mental illness, addiction, and abuse at the hands of his parents... that's difficult to listen to (and must have been difficult to narrate). But he also describes his career and includes several of his wonderful comedic impressions. He recounts his experiences from Saturday Night Live (which I absolutely loved, as an SNL fan), and notes that he refers fans to s Washington Post article in response to "Why aren't you playing Donald Trump anymore?"

The book also describes Hammond's recovery from addiction and finding peace. For me, this was the most satisfying part of the book. A very interesting audiobook by and about this talented comedian. Highly recommended!

One of the best audiobooks I've ever heard. Trevor Noah is smart and literate -- that I knew from watching him host The Daily Show. What I didn't know about was his upbringing in South Africa under Apartheid and his wonderful mother. Spare nearly nine hours to hear Mr Noah tell his story (he narrates the audiobook)... it's time well spent. Highly recommended.

This audiobook is MUCH more interesting than one might think at first glance... the author, an FBI field agent, describes how to use and interpret verbal cues and body language for more effective communication. From start to finish, a great listen. I found so many wonderful tips that I've already begun applying in my business and personal communication. Highly recommended.
