Good read…
Revisado: 12-26-21
I really enjoyed listening to Katie Couric’s biography. She’s funny and witty but you already know that! Because she narrates her own story she can give details into events that happened in her life and it feels as if you are sitting there with her like old friends. She also is very honest about her mistakes and blunders in decisions she made in her life. I enjoyed it immensely.

The Art of Is contains breath-of-fresh-air thinking about how to cultivate the kind of game-changing creativity everyone seeks. Stephen Nachmanovitch shows exactly how the passion and immediacy of improvisation can be cultivated and how, in fact, we all improvise all the time - whether we are driving or deep in conversation.

Amazing work
Revisado: 07-03-21
I went into this book not knowing what to expect and received way more than I expected. A thoroughly “interesting” read, lots of philosophical questions and thoughts regarding how the present state of “is” is so much more than what we think. If you enjoy philosophical works and puzzling your mind about, you’ll love this one!

Historia
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Interesting and unexpected life story
Revisado: 11-26-20
First of all, this was a very interesting story. The one thing that bothered me was that James Taylor spoke very slowly and somewhat monotonously considering the way I have heard him speak in the past. I do not know if now he has a disorder such as Parkinson’s which contributes to this, however he seemed rather detached as if he was reading a story rather than truly telling his life story. On the other hand, he is extremely honest in this story about his failures and wins AND family issues. I wish there had been more music such as playing each entire song after he talks about the inspiration for it. Nevertheless, I love James Taylor and always will.

Historia
Dr. Jamison is one of the foremost authorities on manic-depressive (bipolar) illness; she has also experienced it firsthand. For even while she was pursuing her career in academic medicine, Jamison found herself succumbing to the same exhilarating highs and catastrophic depressions that afflicted many of her patients, as her disorder launched her into ruinous spending sprees, episodes of violence, and an attempted suicide.

This book was read by the author and tells her personal story of bipolar disorder. If this is what lithium does to the personality and tone of your voice and storytelling abilities-I want none of it! Dry, boring, detached and monotone-only 3 hours, but quite a chore. If someone else had narrated maybe it would be better, but really no enlightening information at all.

Historia
We have all met men who have the Peter Pan syndrome. Many of these men are also narcissistic and self-absorbed simply by the nature of the Peter Pan syndrome. A man who is stuck in his path through life as a boy never matures emotionally. He carries around his childhood sense of himself throughout his life. In many instances, his tastes do not grow or change. The way that he interacts with others does not grow or change. He is still stuck as a 12-year-old boy, or sometimes even younger, in his emotional development.

Good review of the complex but not a full book. It's like an introduction to the topic. And for $2.95? The site makes it appear it is a sale price for an older book, and says there are 5 chapters, but I just listened to the entire thing in less than 30 min and can tell you the last 2 chapters are credits, and at least one of the first was just dedicating the book. Poor choice on my part. I'm sorry I didn't look at the no. of pages...I was tricked!
