Mispronunciations Are Annoying
Revisado: 03-03-24
The narrator kept pronouncing the verb "prophesy" like the noun "prophecy." And totally butchered the pronunciation of "Ephesians" too. It was so distracting that I lost focus and interest in listening. I returned it for credit back but will probably buy the paperback. I love the author and the topic is fascinating!

Life Transforming Message
Revisado: 08-21-23
Such an amazing message about the importance of having a relationship with the Holy Spirit! It was hard to listen to the narrator. He sounded breathless and whiny to me. But I still highly recommend the book for the content.

interesting Story, Great Narration!
Revisado: 09-01-21
I really enjoyed the story Kate Quinn developed but must give greatest kudos to the narrator, Saskia Maarleveld. She managed to make the characters come alive with American, British, Scottish, and French accents, male and female voices, young and old. I will definitely consider purchasing other books she has narrated!

Great Historical Biography!
Revisado: 01-22-21
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book. I experienced all of the adventures she took in her quest to uncover her secret royal heritage. I was delighted as she made one discovery after another, often risking her own safety and freedom to do so. Over a period of decades, she unearth bits of truth and so many ironic twists and turns that had been hidden for several generations.

Historia
This is a book about discovering the secret to all the things we most desire: contentment, meaning, peace of mind, and true freedom. This skillfully edited translation of selections from the writings of Meister Eckhart (c. 1260-1328) provides a road map to the spiritual life for contemporary seekers. Eckhart takes us on a journey of discovery, a journey in which we learn to let go, relinquish our need to know everything, and lose those things that we think are important for a life of worth. And in the end he shows us that the true secret is: to find yourself, you must lose yourself.

Awful Narration
Revisado: 01-04-21
I disagree with some of the things in this book (e.g., that creation is God) sprinkled amongst other things I hold dear as truths in my Christian faith. So I cannot recommend the book. Additionally, the narration is very robotic. The speaker halts at the most unnatural places.

Historia
Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo - he's just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn't absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

Food for Thought
Revisado: 01-02-21
This definitely gave me new insights into minimalism and I highly recommend this audio book. However, not every example resonated with me. Some were too simplistic for practicality. For example, he spoke more than once about how a $500 ring doesn't give 5 times as much pleasure as a $100 ring. At the risk of sounding materialistic, a nicer ring might actually give me greater pleasure if I much prefer the design. So it's not just about price. And it is true that no matter how much money Bill Gates has, he is not likely to enjoy and benefit from 6 meals a day instead of 3...unless a dietitian has recommended 6 very small meals and snacks due to health reasons. I understand where the author is going with his premise about such things, but there is some black and white thinking that won't fit everything in life for most of us. Nevertheless, his freedom from things and joy found living as a minimalist is very inviting, and I will try some of his methodology to reduce my "stuff" in life. His tips are very useful and the narration is very good, so I still highly recommend it.

Historia
Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

Great Narration, Fascinating History, Tedious End
Revisado: 12-22-20
I really enjoyed listening to the first half of this autobiography in which Booker T. Washington wrote about his humble beginnings as a slave and his perseverance to obtain an education after the Emancipation Proclamation. This was a time when Black Americans were technically free but still had no basic rights or access to education. Unfortunately, the last half of the book includes an enormous amount of him reading letters and mentioning special recognitions he received for his work in directing and developing the Tuskegee Institute. It was quite amazing what was accomplished in that 20 year period, but hearing him read letter after letter and talk about the great things he did gets quite tedious. Kudos to the narrator, however. He has a nice speaking voice and spoke with great conviction and passion that represented Mr. Washington well. This helped me see it through to the very end.

Important Message, But...
Revisado: 09-27-20
This book covered our need to fully grasp and repent of our sin before a holy and just God. Many evangelists fail to point that out, preferring to speak only about receiving Jesus into the heart to have a beautiful life. This leads to false converts without true repentance who are Christian in name only. There were some great points, but it was SUPER repetitive! Additionally, the narrator sounded extremely robotic. I am glad I listened to it because of the message, but I cannot cite it as a favorite read/listen.

My Favorite Audible Book!
Revisado: 07-07-20
If you are wondering if this book is too long, I assure you it is not! My mind and spirit are stirred by this amazing, true story written and read by Reinhard Bonnke himself. What passion this man had for seeing the continent of Africa saved by Christ. If your life feels dry and you are feeling like you have missed your calling, God will use this book to refresh you and speak into your spirit. I so wanted to hear more when it was over. I rejoice at the life and legacy Reinhard Bonnke left for those of us who still walk the earth. May God richly reward and bless him throughout eternity for his obedience to love and serve so many others! ❤️
