Historia
Relax to the natural symphony of steady rain in Olympic National Park in Washington, as the raindrops plunk onto leaves, drip into puddles, and course down the grooved bark of ancient trees. Unlike canned nature sounds created in a studio, renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton gives you the real deal. He travels the world recording remarkable locations that capture the essence of the place itself.

Calming
Revisado: 06-22-21
The pitter patter of falling rain through leaves is pleasantly calming. I enjoy listening to it at bedtime.

Historia
The last time Thread attacked Pern, the world was unprepared for the fight - until the Oldtimers appeared. These courageous dragonriders arrived from the past, traveling 400 years to help their descendants survive. But the collision of past and present took its toll. While most of the displaced rescuers adapted to their new reality, others could not abide the jarring change and found themselves in soul-crushing exile, where unhappiness and resentment seethed.

Very good
Revisado: 05-02-21
I enjoyed a new perspective of my old favorite Dragonriders of Pern books, going back to Piemer’s perspective at the time the Oldtimers stole a queen egg from Ramoth. Good book, good performance. Anyone reading this before Anne McCaffrey’s original books would likely enjoy it, though some who enjoyed them in the past may have trouble liking this as well. Nothing wrong with the writing, but the style isn’t the same. It didn’t bother me.

Vydor was on a fast track to the highest-ranking position in the Imperial Navy’s security forces and was recently assigned to the senior staff of the flagship of the Navy, the Dragon Claw. All he wanted to do his entire life was to serve his god, the Emperor, and given his phenomenal performance during his training in the Naval Academy, it seemed he would be able to do just that.

Enjoyable first in sci-fantasy series

I listened to the Audible version. Good difference in voices to differentiate between characters.
The story had me interested from the beginning. Magic in space, what could be better? Fun, good starter of series.
I look forward to listening to or reading the rest of the series.

Very well written
Revisado: 12-03-17
Wonderful moments of suspense, with intrigue and joy and sadness. The characters are well developed, and I loved them. Jeff Wheeler is now well established as my favorite author of new series. I began by reading the Wretched of Muirwood series, and now am looking forward to the remaining books in The King’s Fountain series. I hope to have many years of enjoyment from the writings of Mr. Wheeler!
