Historia
Raised in Dublin, Ireland, in a devoutly Catholic family, Rebecca Quin constantly invented new ways to make her mother worry—roughhousing with the neighborhood kids, hosting secret parties while her parents were away, enrolling in a warehouse wrestling school, nearly breaking her neck and almost kneecapping a WWE star before her own wrestling career even began—and she was always in search of a thrilling escape from the ordinary.

Great book
Revisado: 04-01-25
Becky did a fantastic job! Great story, written in such a fun and relatable way. And since she did the narration, it's refreshing to listen to a wrestling book where everything is pronounced correctly.

Historia
Is there a way to find truth in the stuff of legend? You may think you know Andre the Giant - but who was Andre Roussimoff? This comprehensive biography addresses the burning questions, outrageous stories, and common misconceptions about his height, his weight, his drawing power as a superstar, and his seemingly unparalleled capacity for food and alcohol. But more importantly, The Eighth Wonder of the World transports listeners beyond the smoke and mirrors of professional wrestling into the life of a real man.

Great, except the narration
Revisado: 10-20-23
I'm a lifelong (born in1981) wrestling fan. Fond memories of watching with my Dad. I loved how in depth in wrestling history this book goes. Most Andre bios that you read/watch rehash the same stories, but this one had so much great info that I hadn't heard before. I really liked it.
The narrator...his tone, pace, etc was fine, but he's clearly never watched wrestling a day in his life. It's rarely called a P-P-V, just a Pay Per View (Premium Live Event sounds stupid, but I won't get into that here since it's irrelevant). He managed to mispronounce so many not-hard-to-pronounce names: Arn = Arm, Janetty = janITY, Bischoff = Biskoff, Antonio = an-tow-NEO (like he's Italian or something), and lots others. Some of them, it was like someone finally corrected him halfway through the book and he started saying it right, but they didn't have him re-record to fix the previous errors.
Note to audiobook producers: thank you for producing wrestling books, but PLEASE either hire someone that knows wrestling or hire someone to "proofread" before it's published. This isn't the first wrestling book I've listened to that's almost been ruined because of mispronunciations.

Revisado: 09-12-23
I gave this a chance after loving books like the Queen of the Tearling trilogy and the Malediction trilogy. I love these 3 books! It was awesome to find a well written series with lots of adventure, magic, interesting characters, just the right amount of scene description, a sprinkling of humor and romance...WITHOUT gratuitous cussing or unnecessary, shoe-horned in sex scenes. Thank you so much, Ms Weber. I can't wait to read more of your work.

The story itself was good. Decent writing, definitely a twisted ending. I see now what others meant by Brooke being an idiot, though. Narrator was good. Read some complaints of her mispronouncing words, but I didn't notice anything. Worth a listen if you catch it on sale.

Great story! Strong, capable females; men who are determined to change the status quo. Well done!
I gave the story 4 stars only because most of the sex scenes seemed shoe-horned in and out of place, just not necessary.
The female narrator was great. The male, however, was somewhat distracting with all his mispronunciations. The author's own website has a pronunciation key for this series. He'd have done well to check it out beforehand.

Another great book filled with interesting stories. The only thing that kinda bothered me in both books was his description of obese people. I'm aware that caring for them is more difficult, but I felt that comparing the one person to livestock was kinda disrespectful and mean.

Revisado: 10-05-19
I read the hard back version of this book and really liked it. Jericho is a great writer with lots of crazy stories. So, I chose the audiobook to listen to at work.
Same great book, but the narrator....oh dear. It's obvious he doesn't know wrestling. So many words mispronounced. Next instead of NXT, chee-oda for Chioda (pronounced key-oda), Rey Mysterio's "six nineteen" instead of six-one-nine...and lots more.
