Historia
One of the most beautiful and brilliant women of her time, Gladys Deacon dazzled as much as she puzzled the glittering social circles in which she moved. Born in Paris to American parents in 1881, she suffered a traumatic childhood after her father shot her mother's lover dead. Educated in America, she returned to Europe, where she captivated and inspired some of the greatest literary and artistic names of the Belle Époque.

The amazing character of Gladys Dracon, heretofore unheard of.
Revisado: 12-11-24
I liked the thorough research of the author even in such a story of high social British classes.

Historia
Winner of the 1982 National Book Award for Biography, Mornings on Horseback is the brilliant biography of the young Theodore Roosevelt. Hailed as a masterpiece by Newsday, it is the story of a remarkable little boy -- seriously handicapped by recurrent and nearly fatal attacks of asthma -- and his struggle to manhood.

Amazing Teddy!
Revisado: 05-13-24
Theodore Roosevelt was amazingly intelligent and energetic in everything he did including his personal relationships. No wonder he was one of our most lived residents.

Historia
It’s the summer of ’77 in New York City, and the only thing more unnerving than the scorching heatwave is the rampant murder, leaving washed-up homicide detective Richard Dietrich on edge. When Dietrich investigates a brutal mob hit the brass doesn’t want him to solve, he goes from phoning it in to getting in over his head. Caught up in a mysterious second homicide with an even more perplexing perpetrator, Dietrich starts to second guess his instincts—and his memory—as he searches for answers at the bottom of a bottle.

Profanity
Revisado: 05-11-24
Profanity is overdone and distracts from whatever story there may have been. The voice was nice, though. Too bad they find such language necessary.
