Historia
Life isn't always easy for women today! In the shuffle of so many responsibilities, it's easy to lose focus on pursuing godliness in every task. That's why a woman must train herself to reflect on everything she encounters and determine whether or not it encourages holiness. Her character, relationships, ministry, even her soul - all need to be examined and ultimately surrendered to God before she can develop the godly character she so desperately wants.

Great Book, Not-So-Great Reading
Revisado: 01-29-24
This book is biblically sound, helpful, and practical for the Christian woman. I bought the paperback version so I can easily go back and focus on certain areas. My only complaint is with the reader. She read much too fast, as if she was flippant about or bored with the material. She only slowed down when reading quotes. A book like this shouldn’t be rushed. I tried slowing it down on the Audible app, but that made it too slow! Ugh. Overall, a great read for women who want to know how to practically live for God.

Historia
Sonora Carver (1904-2003) was a circus entertainer and one of the first female horse divers. In the arresting autobiography A Girl and Five Brave Horses, Sonora tells her life story. Her sensational act was mounting a running horse as it reached the top of a 40-foot or 60-foot tower and sailing down on its back as it plunged into an 11-foot pool of water below. In 1931, she was blinded due to hitting the water off balance with open eyes while diving her horse. After the accident, she continued to dive horses until 1942.

Great Story, Awful Reader
Revisado: 01-17-24
Why on earth was a thick-accented, Croatian woman who learned English in London the one who read this all-American story??? It totally took away from the story. Her pronunciations were horrendous (my favorite was how she said Yosemite — YOH-SEH-MIGHT — how does one not know how to pronounce Yosemite?!?!). She referred to Al as Ahl or Owl. There were mistakes in the recording, parts that should have been edited out but were not. This book would be a lot more enjoyable just read by oneself, and not being read to by this reader. Ugh.

Historia
Edgar Allen Poe's masterful poem, The Raven, is a strange and haunting story of lost love. It tells of a distraught young man who, while lamenting the loss of his lover, Lenore, is visited by a talking raven, adding a supernatural element to an already mysterious experience. The story traces the man's slow, sorrowful descent into madness. This edition of The Raven includes historical information about the author and the story.

Terrible sound effects
Revisado: 01-16-23
I enjoyed the poem, but it would have been better without all the loud background music and sound effects. They were distracting and almost covered over the words of the poem. The reading was well done, though.
