Historia
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

What a tough and sad life
Revisado: 01-20-25
I loved the narration, Julia Roberts, and especially that one of Riley. Such warm and lovely voice- a heartbreaking story so tenderly told. What an impressive woman Riley is to navigate such difficulties with grace & poise. Her little girl is lucky to have her who will undoubtedly break this devastating cycle.

Historia
Anna's aged mother is dying. Condemned by her children's pity to living, subjected to increasingly desperate medical interventions, she turns her focus to her hospital window, through which she escapes into visions of horror and delight. When Anna's finger vanishes and a few months later her knee disappears, Anna too feels the pull of the window. She begins to see that all around her, others are similarly vanishing, yet no one else notices. All Anna can do is keep her mother alive.

Dreadful! Tried so hard to get into it
Revisado: 01-17-23
This has been the most dreadful book I have listened to/read in a long time. I didn’t remember how I got it, Ie. If a friend recommended it, I tried super hard to get into it and kept hoping for something to happen to turn this story into something worthwhile. I gave up after about 7 painful chapters (more than half). Don’t waste your time there is so much good content out there.

A captivating and heartbreaking story that pulls the reader in. I couldn’t stop listening. The narrator was amazing too.

Historia
When Indian American journalist Smita returns to India to write the story of a young widow Meena and the murder of her husband, it’s Smita’s first time back since her family left when she was a child. Both Smita and Meena were raised in a culture where a woman exercising a basic human right - the right to love and marry whoever she chooses - is met with brutal punishment. While Meena’s fate hangs in the balance, Smita must reckon with the privilege that becoming an American has given her, as well as face the trauma that shaped her as a child and led to her family leaving.

Historia
When Nigel Poor and Earlonne Woods met, Nigel was a photography professor volunteering with the Prison University Project and Earlonne was serving thirty-one years to life at California’s San Quentin State Prison. Initially drawn to each other by their shared interest in storytelling, neither had podcast production experience when they decided to enter Radiotopia’s contest for new shows...and won. Using the prize for seed money, Nigel and Earlonne launched Ear Hustle, named after the prison term for “eavesdropping”.

Incredible book
Revisado: 06-18-22
One of my favorite books of all time. Such incredible stories, well produced and amazing narration by the 2 authors. Highly recommended. It gives you a great insight into lives that you normally don’t have access to and an appreciation for the humanity of prisoners.
