Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Emily Henry & Julia Whalen never disappoint!
Revisado: 09-23-24
Loved the characters and the message in this story. It has you rooting for all of them. There are points in the story where I wanted to cry and felt like I was transported into a book by Julia Waylon's amazing narration. Just a great feel good story that you never want to end.

Well conceived suspenseful novella
Revisado: 07-03-24
I was impressed with the way the author was able to develop a suspenseful story and a few main characters in this length audiobook. Also, despite not typically liking audiobooks with separate narrators for each character, it didn't bother me here. While I always prefer to hear Julia Whalen narrate (and knowing she was one of the narrators was the reason I downloaded this audiobook), I was ok with her sharing the mic with these other narrators. (I am one of the many Julia Whalen fans who think she is simply the best! I could listen to her read ANYTHING! She is so talented!!!)

Sally Milz is a sketch writer for The Night Owls, a late-night live comedy show that airs every Saturday. With a couple of heartbreaks under her belt, she’s long abandoned the search for love, settling instead for the occasional hook-up, career success, and a close relationship with her stepfather to round out a satisfying life. But when Sally’s friend and fellow writer Danny Horst begins dating Annabel, a glamorous actress who guest-hosted the show, he joins the not-so-exclusive group of talented but average-looking and even dorky men at the show.

Perfect mix of humor and romance
Revisado: 03-18-24
Loved the SNL spoof and every "normal" woman's dream of being noticed and cherished by a heart throb. But despite the seemingly unrealistic premise, the author develops a realistic set of character and nuances that make the book a delight and satisfying read or listen!

Just okay.

The characters were a bit trite and thus the story didn't have any real oomph. It was good enough to finish but not an audiobook I would recommend.

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Unexpected Twists and Ending
Revisado: 12-21-23
I listen to a lot of mystery and thriller audiobooks so when I am surprised at the end, it means use the novel approach. It was refreshing not to have it be something I would’ve predicted. It definitely kept my interest. I would like to listen to or read more by this author!

Entertaining but a little predictable
Revisado: 04-06-23
This was the perfect length and had enough intrigue to be satisfying. But I knew from the beginning one key fact that came out later. (Don’t want to be a spoiler so not sharing details!).

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Love Julia Whelan!!!
Revisado: 08-28-22
I love Julia Whelan as a narrator of others’ books and was blown away at her writing talent with My Oxford Year. I was thrilled to see she had written and narrated another novel and it was as good or better than my oxford year! I can’t decide because I love them both. Her character development is great and why are you think it’s going to be predictable, it’s not. I almost cried at times and definitely laughed out loud at times!
Julia has such a beautiful way of narrating as well. I didn’t realize some of the voices weren’t hers when I first started listening to books she narrated a few years ago. I am in awe of her multiple talents. I can’t wait for her next book! Please write more and narrate more!

Revisado: 11-18-21
This was a gripping and intelligent story with good character development and interesting twists and turns. I love the way Grisham pulls you in to his stories right away and you never get bored or want the story to end. Mary-Louise Parker was pretty good as the narrator. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who appreciates a well-constructed legal/crime thriller.
