Historia
Pat Nevin never wanted to be a professional footballer. His future was clear, he'd become a teacher like his brothers. There was only one problem with this - Pat was far too good to avoid attention. Raised in Glasgow's East End, Pat loved the game, playing for hours and obsessively following Celtic. But as he grew up, he also loved Joy Division, wearing his Indie 'gloom boom' coat and going on marches - hardly typical footballer behaviour!

Historia
In his best-selling How to Be Right, James provided an invigorating guide to how to talk to people with bad opinions. And yet the question he always gets asked is: 'if you're so sure about everything, haven't you ever changed your mind?' In an age of us vs them, tribal loyalties and bitter divisions, the ability to change our minds may be the most important power we have. In this intimate, personal new book, James' focus shifts from talking to other people to how you talk to yourself about what you really think.

Makes you think about thinking
Revisado: 10-23-20
Listened over a period of two days in the car and at home. Would have taken just a day but had to do some work. Those who are certain of their rightness should listen and the problem is they won’t. Those who doubt their certainties already know what’s within the book but they can also listen and enjoy as James explores his own wrongness over the years and how easy it is to dismiss others’ lived experiences because of our “luck” in the lottery of life.

First part great, last part excellent, middle part just no. Could Identify with the parents and their stories but not with the kid. Too many trying to be different words, I get why but it just made it a difficult listen

Historia
It’s rumoured that Dickens wanted to return to his classic novel Oliver Twist, to bring him back into a later book as an older character, but he never managed this before he died. However, if Oliver had returned, what would he have been like? Would the scars of his childhood affect the man he would become? And what of ‘Dodger’, sent to a land halfway around the world, his friend, mentor and master dead because of Oliver? Dodge & Twist is that story. The tale of two boys, 12 years later, returning into each other’s lives - for both good and bad.

A deep analysis of what drives the narratives in the heads of so many people and how they are manipulated and taught not to think. Unfortunately those who don’t think won’t listen to it or read it because in their own minds they are already “right”

Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is hygge. Loosely translated, hygge - pronounced hoo-ga - is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

Took my time to get used to the voice with me being from the uk but once that happened it was bearable ;-)

We're sleepwalking through our own lives. Ruby Wax shows us how to wake up from this stupor with a scientific solution to modern problems: mindfulness.

Excellent listen with a great finish. Just one flaw for me is the description of exercises to do which goes on too long in audio version. It would be fine reading but not too great in audio.
