This was the type of book where you wear your Bluetooths so you can walk around hearing it. Two adorable women... I wish I had a sister to have a life like them. So ornery but loveable. I hope it goes on and on. I've already listened to all books and now I'm starting all over with this book. I LOVE this narrator. She really captures who these women are.

Historia
Thanksgiving is Bailey King's busiest holiday weekend. This year promises to be even more hectic, since Bailey's candy shop is providing desserts for Harvest, Ohio's first village-wide Thanksgiving celebration. Yet the event's organizer, Margot Rawlings, is unfazed . . . until she discovers her mother, former judge Zara Bevan, will be in attendance. Zara's reputation as a harsh critic is matched only by her infamy as a judge. No one is prepared when she arrives with much younger boyfriend Blaze Smith. Then Blaze suffers an allergic reaction to something he's eaten and dies on the spot.

Really loved this!
Revisado: 10-16-22
As always, I loved all of the characters. New and old. Big twist in the story that I enjoyed. Nice that it was more of a mystery than a romance novel. There's too many Amish romance novels anyways. Great to get a break from that a little. Can't wait to hear the next one.

Historia
Sarah Kauffman sought permission from her church elders to paint murals on a few of the Amish community's barns. Each was designed like an old-fashioned quilt square, representing a piece of the Amish traditions Sarah loved. The works of art were intended to draw more tourists to the Home Valley in the struggling economy. But instead, they invited a menace. One by one, each barn is set ablaze and destroyed.…The arson fires spread fear through the community - amongst Amish and Englischers alike. Now Sarah wonders if she's being punished for her pridefulness…or whether there's a more malevolent will at work.

I had high hopes for this one
Revisado: 05-17-22
But it turned out to be a terrible story. It was less an Amish arson mystery and more of a too detailed "adult book". The main characters behaved like hormonal teenagers than a professional and a "good" Amish girl. The whole love story played out very poorly, as well. If you are looking for the type of book that some would call "steamy" here you go. The author should double check her facts on the Amish, as well.
I normally don't have anything bad to say about the narrator, but this was bad. The main character was the only one with an understandable, but overly soft voice. Everyone else sounded like vampires from Transylvania. And listening on headphones at times was tough when the dialog between 2 characters varied between a very quiet, almost whispering man and a very loud and boisterous Southern woman. I turned it on high to make out what he said and threw off my headphones when she talked. Pronunciation is important too.
There are too many things I could recommend to improve the story, but I can't go on that long. But details about the main male character and the Amish female character making out heavily throughout the book. around her Amish parents too, ruined the story. The ending was terrible.

Overall, not bad
Revisado: 05-10-22
I'll try not to give any spoilers or too many criticisms here.
First, authors of Amish-themed stories mistake is not using Amish surnames to make it sound more relatable. Rather than Baker, use something more appropriate for the area (ex. Miller, Stoltzfus, Yoder, Esh).
Second, the mother's weakness in parenting skills goes over the top when blessing a marriage of an underage daughter that never should've been blessed. That was going way too far. In the Amish community, this would have been discovered by the leaders of the church districts and dealt with more strictly. Also, the multiple spur-of-the-moment free trips requested of a newly met English acquaintance makes the impression of the Amish negative.
Third, overusing the word "Wunderbar". Being Amish I never heard this word used this often. actually not at all. Authors really overuse it alot to make it sound "Amish" when it really sounds amateur. But there are words that are used here and there that aren't bad.
This is maybe a more "advanced" critique of the books, but if you know much about the culture you will find alot that makes it fail as a book about the Amish. Otherwise, most of the storylines work well. There's the handling of the one girl's situation that never would've been handled the way it did and sounded "amateurish".
However, despite all of this, I will listen to more!

Finally one worth purchasing
Revisado: 04-15-22
I have had a string of bad luck with 1 star quality books. can't even finish the series it's so bad. This one did it for me. It was relatable and more realistic. The only thing was the ending. It was really abrupt and unsatisfying. I would've been happy with another hour just to wrap things up properly! Good job with this book. You beat out other "big names" but "poor quality". I highly recommend this book. The "romance" wasn't too heavy, thank goodness! I'm not a romance person. But this was nicely comfortable!

I rarely say a title isn't worth your time but...
Revisado: 04-07-22
this story has to be one of the worst in hundreds of titles I've purchased. The main female character in the story is written with the mind more immature than her 16 year old. Her ability to make adult decisions falls very short. The story is very predictable a couple of chapters in. it got so bad that I broke my number 1 rule, I jumped to the last chapter and spared myself very poor writing. I believe I've purchased other books from this author and never came across something so poorly written.
Why?
(Spoiler) It doesn't feel believable to me that an otherwise happy widow leaves the Amish and a daughter (who has already lost one parent) behind with family members so she can run off with an English man she met in a hotel a month or two before? And all she says is that she (the daughter) will need a few days to get over it. Seriously?! it felt like the Amish Jerry Springer show & written as poorly

I like the stories but...
Revisado: 03-09-22
I'm beginning to feel with each story that things go over the top. Too unbelievable. I don't want to give any spoilers but I feel the romance is too distracting and the "movie star" angle is way too much. I am very knowledgeable about the Amish & I know the differences can vary wildly between districts and locations, but there are some inaccuracies that are difficult to ignore.
I still like the stories alot, but I feel as time goes on each one becomes more "cartoonish" than the last one. Some of the characters are very lovable, such as the best friend or the grandmother. Others were fine but are now too much. Many situations are not too believable. But I have faith the next story will be great!

Best I've heard in SO long!
Revisado: 01-02-22
I listen to a good deal of audiobooks and no story has kept me glued from page one. A wonderful balance of everything. Not too much violence or unneeded gore, a great explanation of necessary details, great characters, a nice chill!
Although the story took place in England, the narrator did not perform with a heavy accent, which was much appreciated. I enjoy understanding what I'm listening to. Helped the story along nicely.

The characters are so lovable. Great humor. Write more! Nothing is ever perfect, but this is one of the closest. Even the "love" element doesn't steal from the story. It isn't cheesy or overwhelming. I know the "world of the Amish" and the information is most correct in these books.

Historia
In 2009, Mark R. Levin galvanized conservatives with his unforgettable manifesto Liberty and Tyranny, by providing a philosophical, historical, and practical framework for halting the liberal assault on Constitution-based values. That book was about standing at the precipice of progressivism’s threat to our freedom, and now, over a decade later, we’re fully over that precipice and paying the price. In American Marxism, Levin explains how the core elements of Marxist ideology are now pervasive in American society and culture.

The handbook to Freedom and Liberty in this time of Marxist takeover of our country.
Revisado: 08-06-21
This is the best book in a liberty of books written by Mark R. Levin. Mark walks us through the Marxist variant called American Marxism. This isn’t the Marxism as described by Carl Marx. It is the taking of American freedoms to destroy this nation.
This book goes through what they want to do and how we can stop it. Buy this book, read this book , and join it the fight against American Marxism.
