I’ll try to keep this short and spoiler free. I will however, apologize if I’m unable to do so. I’ll start with what I didn’t like first because it’s so short.

I really didn’t like the voice of the alleged murderer. I’d have to see the name or hear it to spell it out. I understand what the voice actor was trying to accomplish. But starting a story with someone who sounds like an old man started to bore me.
The beginning was also slow and not appealing at first listen. It almost discouraged me to keep listening.

Now let’s talk about what I did like:
This story was so carefully constructed I believe that it is absolutely phenomenal. By the end I was so hooked I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. You think you have all the answers in the middle of the story only for the rug to be pulled from under the reader. The characters were well written, and even though I didn’t care for some of the voice acting it was still optimal. I didn’t know this was part of a series because this book could be a stand alone.

I highly recommend anyone listening to finish this. And if you’re unsure to give this a book a chance I ensure you it is one to commence and you won’t regret it!

The concept of this story is actually cool despite my overall negative feedback. I couldn’t help but he bored through most of it. A majority of the story is describing these assassins life but they have very little interaction with each other. The voice acting was painful to the ears. The dialogue in my opinion doesn’t match the tone they used.

It sucks because the concept of this story is cool. We have imaginary literary devices ghosts and interesting characters. But the story lacked incredibly for me.

Spoiler***
Suzuki is made out to he the main character. The story begins and ends with him but I can’t help but wonder what was the point of him in the story. Or the point of the story. The people Suzuki wanted dead, died without his involvement at all. The only way for the story to be fixed if if Suzuki was an assassin all along. Or someone working with black and yellow and the pusher without anyone knowing. But instead we get a bland character who everything just works out for.

I have been a big fan of this book series so far, but I will admit to beginning of this was incredibly slow. My favorite was the ending. (spoiler alert:) it felt like the author forgot that she wrote about a male. In the middle of the book, Joe’s voice turns into Melanda . Everything that made Melanda annoying seemed to rub off on Joe. His perspective felt all over the place. If it wasn’t for the voice actor (who did amazing) I would assume this was a female protagonist.

It’s a shame I love the series but this was disappointing, and Wonder seems to be a critique at critics and some of the readers. In fact, the whole book seems to be a commentary on the author using Joe as a conduit of her experiences which made it difficult as a reader to be enveloped by the story.

Fortunately the end made up for what lacked in the book for me. I do hope there is more to the story with some type of epic conclusion.

Slow at first, but this audio book was exceptional. Something I believe everyone needs to hear that is applicable to those who want to improve their mindsets.

Great book with a great message. There were times the book got slow for me. But I still enjoyed it regardless. Highly recommend. The different perspectives and voices on this one really made it different than the last book.

A truly inspiring tale told where one person must overcome a lifetime of suffering and hardships. I believe that this book should be viewed as this:

1. As external motivation to get you started on improving your life.

2. The driving force to now remove the external motivation. And dig deep into who you are and what drives you. Even if you have nothing left to push you.

Phenomenal story telling by Goggins, and Skotnick. Can’t wait to tackle the other books/audiobooks.
