This book was not what I expected. I thought it would be about helping one to formulate that "reason for which we believe." The author expresses belief in an old Earth and cosmological evolution. He even says at one point that "it is not necessary to defend a literal six day creation."

I could not continue.

The Lord Jesus quoted Genesis and the six days of creation. The Lord referenced Noah and the Flood. Jesus should know; he was THERE! (John 1:1).

If Genesis is not history, if God did not create everything in six literal days, and the creation and flood stories are metaphor, then Christ's sacrifice for our salvation was pointless. If one can relegate Genesis to stories with moral lessons, what other parts of the Bible can be ignored? Exodus? Matthew? Acts?
...
... Revelation? How about all the books and places where the End Times are described, and some of the imagery of Revelation explained.

Ignoring God's Word is fatal. Excusing away parts of God's Word because one thinks it conflicts with science is perilous, at best. Therefore I could not finish, and do not recommend this title.
