Historia
As the child of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo Millet's always known she’d have to make it on her own. So she enrolls at her local junior college, even though she can’t imagine how she’ll ever make a living. She’s still figuring things out and never planned to have an affair with her English professor—and while the affair is brief, it isn’t brief enough to keep her from getting pregnant. Despite everyone’s advice, she decides to keep the baby, mostly out of naiveté and a yearning for something bigger.

Not heavy

I enjoyed it a lot, it reminded of Juno. I would love to see it turned into a movie.

Historia
In Only Big Bumbum Matters Tomorrow, Damilare Kuku brings her signature humor, boldness, and compassion to each member of this loveable but exasperating family, whose lives reveal the ways in which a woman’s physical appearance can dictate her life and relationships and show just how sharp the double-edged sword of beauty can be.

Great Narration, love the back stories
Revisado: 10-13-24
I love how the book went between past and present and gave back stories on each character, it gives the reader a better understanding of why every one acted the way they did. It was also a good way to highlight the struggles of women in Nigerian society(abuse, spousal abandonment, suppressed sexuality, beauty standards only imposed on women, etc). You could see that no matter where the women lived, they still had bad experiences. I would have liked a more definitive ending but it was great anyway.
Props to the narrator, I wish audible would continue to use African narrators for African stories, the fake accents can be quite irksome in some books but Weruche did great!

Historia
For months I stood in the wings, an understudy waiting for my time to shine. I never imagined he would be in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to center stage Hollywood. From being unknown, to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone's lips when Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night. Forbidden attraction, scandal and circumstances beyond my control jeopardize my dream.

I feel seen
Revisado: 05-05-24
A book that discusses how your health can affect your self esteem and feeling like a burned to the people you care most about, I’ve never related more. I had to pause a few times because of my deep understanding of that. The narration and the inclusion of desi’s story and the singing. It was all in all great story telling and of course the doctor was Nigerian 😂

The mispronunciations are irksome
Revisado: 03-02-24
The majority of the people in the story are igbo but the pronunciations are said with yoruba intonation, it would have been better to use a narrator who’s Igbo

Best friends Hero and Sunday are holidaying in New York when Sunday persuades the normally conservative Hero to don a siren-red wig and the persona of Lola, a do-anything-anywhere-anytime trapeze artist. Disguised as Lola, Hero crosses paths - and a whole lot more - with gorgeous Oscar. Sparks fly, but Hero can't admit to Oscar that she's not who he thinks she is.

If a low budget movie was a book
Revisado: 01-24-24
The story seemed very unrealistic and all over the place with a lot of unnecessary characters jumping in at different points. It was like a hallmark/lifetime movie but a book instead

Loved it
Revisado: 10-14-23
I enjoyed it! It was such a light listen. I don’t have a problem with the narration, I thought it fit very well with Georgia’s pessimism.

Story and performance
Revisado: 05-11-23
The story was good, liked the twists and turns, the accent of the narrator however annoyed me. We need to stop this one size fits all African accent. It was such a turn off for me, it made it difficult to listen, if I was able return it. I would have. Please get Nigerians to read Nigerian books, we don’t sound like that.
