Historia
Not everyone in Sweetbriar Ridge is as sweet as the town name would suggest. But single mom Jade Mackenzie is up to the challenge of winning over the town if that's what it takes to make her new shop a success. After all, this is just the latest in a long string of battles she's had to face. Since she's given up on men—all of them except for her son—she can throw all her energy into the new business. Or so she thought until the most charming and too-good-looking-for-his-own-good man walked into her shop...and she literally falls into his arms.

Loving You

After reading “Finding You” I wanted to read more about this little town of Sweetbriar Ridge and its quirky inhabitants. Though this is part of a series they are written to be read on their own. I am pretty sure this is also a spin-off of a different Donovan series, as they are mentioned in this book as well. This book follows 2 MCs Jade Mackenzie, a single mom opening her own business, and Levi Donovan a big-shot ad exec who got involved with the wrong woman and lost his job. As these two charm their way into each other’s lives we have a sweet romance that builds and a group of friends that come together. Though this is a pretty clean romance more going on than just two people is falling in love. There is a lot of family drama on both sides of this relationship. For Levi, it’s coming to terms with how his dad left as a child and finding out what happened. For Mackenzie it’s drama with her child’s paternal grandparents who blame her for the disgrace of their child who wanted nothing to do with the human he helped create. All that drama made for some far-fetched scenarios but it was entertaining to read. I loved the sweetness of the coupling and how straightforward Jade is. It is very refreshing to not have characters hide their feelings.

In a small village in New York, Charley Davidson is living as Jane Doe, a girl with no memory of who she is or where she came from. So when she is working at a diner and slowly begins to realize she can see dead people, she's more than a little taken aback. Stranger still are the people entering her life. They seem to know things about her. Things they hide with lies and half truths. Soon she senses something far darker. A force that wants to cause her harm, she is sure of it.

How I loved Charley and crew. This was a great refresh, almost a reset back to the fun and snarky Charley we had in the beginning of the series. Except Charlie is going by Jane Doe since she has no memory of who she is. I love that her whole gang traveled to Sleepy Hollow, New York, just to be with Charley even though she had no idea who they were and that made things funny and awkward (calling UB hot) and just seeing how well these characters fit together. This book was witty and eye opening and so very satisfying to read. I felt like we were in a slump with previous books, but this one brought it out of the slump for me and I am excited to read the next one.

Historia
Ada Lamarr may have gotten to the spaceship wreck first, but looter’s rights won’t get her far when she’s got a hole in the side of her ship and her spacesuit is almost out of air. Fortunately for her, help arrives in the form of a government salvage crew—and while they rescue her from certain death, they are not pleased to have an unexpected passenger along on their classified mission. But Ada doesn’t care—all that matters to her is enjoying their fine food and sweet, sweet oxygen—until Rian White, the government agent in charge, starts to suspect that there’s more to Ada than meets the eye.

This novella is so fun. It’s probably the most fun I’ve had reading/listening to a book in so long. So much so that I listened to the first two in one sitting. Though I can easily interchange audio with physical books this was one that I would recommend as an audio. The narrator does such a fantastic job with the dialogue which is saying a lot because the dialogue is 90% sarcasm and witty banter. I loved it. This book also gave me Firefly vibes, I am not sure why, maybe the banter or dialogue, it was just the same smart interactions even when being devious. So, this book follows Ada who is a looter, someone who goes out and loots abandoned or wrecked spacecraft that the government hasn’t claimed, her ship gets damaged and she gets picked up on a government ship. Here is where she meets Rian, an attractive person on this ship that she is attracted to, but she is on a mission and so is he. Though there is romantic tension this isn’t a romance. It’s a space heist book and I am here for it.
