Historia
I'm bound to a demon. For my entire life, I avoided magic at all costs. Now, I'm responsible for a demon who wields magic more powerful than the toughest mage or sorcerer. Demons are evil. That's what my textbooks say. That's what I see. He's ruthless, he's temperamental, he's cold. But he protects me without fail. I wonder if he's hiding a heart behind his hostility. My demon is a monster.

Enjoyable and intriguing read
Revisado: 12-09-24
The narrator did an excellent job, with easily differentiating voices for the characters, great pace and clean enunciation. The story was enjoyable with twists that were not predictable and admirable character development as Robin slowly let go of her preconceived assumptions about Zylus and actually paid attention to his actions and words. I would be very interested in Zylus perspective, but this was entirely written from Robin's. I have not read the first book in the series and it jumps right into where I assume the last one left off. That said, there was enough context to follow along with the plot. I enjoyed this and was highly amused by the interactions of Robin and Zylus as they are trying to figure each other out.

Historia
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

Though Elizabeth passed before I was born, that I could relate to her struggles, her dedication and conviction.
Revisado: 09-30-24
I don't often pick up historical stories, but this one was fascinating. The development of code making and breaking was intriguing, as were the two very relatable people at the heart of it. I appreciated as much the gentle and quiet development of their love for one another that saw them through difficult circumstances as their bold and inquisitive assault on the coded secrets that changed the course of the world. Quite folks overlooked because they were not flashy attention grabbers, but who were dedicated to making the world a better place.

A new holiday story from the best-selling master of the Christmas novel. It isn’t Christmas without a Richard Paul Evans novel. Ever since he wrote the book that inspired the genre, The Christmas Box, his best-selling holiday stories have become a beloved literary tradition.

Redeeming love story after heart breaking mistakes
Revisado: 12-20-23
I picked this up hoping for a sweet romantic story themed around Christmas, which this was, but it was much more than that. The story was well written and narration was enjoyable. When getting into the characters back story, it took and unexpected turn and addressed a situation that no one would ever want to face and would be challenging, to say the least, to move on from. But it felt realistic in the mental struggles one goes through with tragic mistakes. Everything doesn't just get better. I appreciated walking through the process as the characters struggled to continue to live and connect while dealing with their past.

Follow one man’s journey of learning to hear the voice of God. By putting words to the things God has shown him through some amazing experiences, John Eldredge helps listeners shed light on the miraculous truths that God is showing them right now. Our deepest need is to live in conversation with God. To hear his voice. To follow him intimately. This is the single most life-changing habit that a human being can adopt, because it brings us back to the source of life. Yet most Christians have never been taught how to have a conversation with the Creator.

Insightful listen
Revisado: 09-26-23
I have been a fan of John Eldridge books for years and picked this one up a while ago. Oh boy was this just what I needed at the right time. I appreciate how open and transparent a look into his like this is. He struggles, stumbles through temptation and feelings and models recovery and restoration of daily walking with God. This book has been encouraging, inspiring and challenging as the Holy Spirit stirred inside me where I to struggle. Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves God and wants to walk with him daily and not just a n weekends.

During a train trip from Chicago to Texas in the late 1940s, A.W. Tozer began to write The Pursuit of God. He wrote all night, and when the train arrived at his destination, the rough draft was done. The depth of this book has made it an enduring favorite.

Historia
God would indeed answer the prayer of the fiery, red-haired woman from Scotland. For 39 years, Mary Slessor would labor in love among the unreached, often treacherous, tribes of Africa's Calabar region. Braving sickness, danger, and death on all sides, Mary became the cherished "White Ma" to entire tribes. Her faith, steadfastness, and pioneering spirit brought her beloved adopted people their first brilliant, contrasting example of the life and freedom found in Jesus Christ.

This story was inspiring and a delightful listen. The life of Mary is full of ups and downs, far away adventures and still relatable to my life. The author has a lovely voice and was able to put a lot of life into her reading. Loved the accents she does. Overall I highly recommend this!
