Historia
Everyone thinks fourteen-year-old Violet is a murderer. After a summer-night swim with her best friend, Ainsley, Violet is found confused, wandering in the forest - and Ainsley’s never seen again. But without a body, murder charges won’t stick, so Violet is sent away. After more than a decade in a psychiatric ward, Violet returns to her broken-down hometown of Normal, Alabama, to claim her dead mother’s inheritance and help her overworked sister care for their unstable, alcoholic father.

Wow this was bad.
Revisado: 10-24-19
Beginning is okay, but it goes downhill quick and never recovers. One long soap opera about characters I couldn't care less about, endless stereotypes, petty drama. The end is downright disturbing; not because of the story itself, but because the author tries to pass off horribly immoral acts as something the reader should cheer for. I'm hoping for my credit back on this one.

Historia
When Jess and Clare Martin move from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to their former college town in the Hudson River valley, they are hoping for rejuvenation - of their marriage, their savings, and Jess' writing career. They take a caretaker's job at Riven House, a crumbling estate and the home of their old college writing professor. While Clare once had dreams of being a writer, those plans fell by the wayside when Jess made a big, splashy literary debut in their 20s. It's been years now since his first novel.

Long Soap Opera
Revisado: 05-16-19
I was hoping for a gothic ghost story but it's just 11 hours of uninteresting relationship drama between a million characters. I tried to force myself to finish it but I finally gave up during the second to last chapter. I just didn't care anymore.

Historia
For three years, Detective Jude Fontaine was kept from the outside world. Held in an underground cell, her only contact was with her sadistic captor, and reading his face was her entire existence. Learning his every line, every movement, and every flicker of thought is what kept her alive. After her experience with isolation and torture, she is left with a fierce desire for justice - and a heightened ability to interpret the body language of both the living and the dead.

Did Siri narrate this?
Revisado: 05-07-19
The story is okay...predictable and a bit slow moving. Not very realistic, but that's okay, maybe it just wasn't for me. The narrator kills it though. It honestly sounds like it was read by a robot.

Dear God...
Revisado: 05-05-19
The main character is excruciatingly dimwitted (I can't stress this enough), and the villain is so cartoonishly "evil" I'm surprised he didn't twirl his mustache at some point. I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough. The only saving grace was Paris's writing style, which has a lyrical sense about it. I just wish the plot had some substance. I was so excited after hearing the sample but was ultimately left disappointed.

Historia
After his December 2003 arrest, registered nurse Charlie Cullen was quickly dubbed "The Angel of Death" by the media. But Cullen was no mercy killer, nor was he a simple monster. He was a favorite son, husband, beloved father, best friend, and celebrated caregiver. Implicated in the deaths of as many as 300 patients, he was also perhaps the most prolific serial killer in American history.

Sobering.
Revisado: 05-05-19
Well written, suspenseful, and surprising. As someone who has worked extensively in the medical field, hearing the detectives' perspective was infuriating, as it showed the hospital's true motives. Sure the pronunciation of 'dig' was incorrect, but the story was strong enough to forgive it. An eye-opening read for sure.

Long walk for a drink of water.
Revisado: 05-05-19
It takes 4 and 1/2 hours of narration to even get to Wolfhunter, and once you're there it's just a mess of a plot. Gwen's character is exhausting, and the villain is downright cartoonish. I've heard the other books in this series are much better. This didn't build anything on the previous books or set up any kind of cliffhanger for the next one, so maybe it's okay to skip this one and just continue with book 4. I forced myself to finish but I'll be requesting my credit back.

The writing is fun and poetic on it's own, but the narration pulls it together like something else. Santino Fontana is the most perfect Joe that ever could be. Love his voices of the other characters as well. So perfect!

Hen and her husband, Lloyd, have settled into a quiet life in a new house outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Hen (short for Henrietta) is an illustrator and works out of a studio nearby and has found the right meds to control her bipolar disorder. Finally, she’s found some stability and peace. But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.
