Informative and Heart-breaking
Revisado: 02-08-24
A thought-provoking and descriptive account of how America has become what it is today in regards to the abortion debate. This book will challenge the abortion supporter and call the pro-life to action.

Historia
How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond? Historian Carl R. Trueman discusses how influences ranging from traditional institutions to technology and pornography moved modern culture toward an era of "expressive individualism." Investigating philosophies from the Romantics, Nietzsche, Marx, Wilde, Freud, and the New Left, he outlines the history of Western thought to the distinctly sexual direction of present-day identity politics and explains the modern implications of these ideas.

The Shorter Version
Revisado: 06-05-23
I read “The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self…” and it was great. This shorter version is helpful in the same ways and can be digested in a shorter amount of time and, in my opinion, gets the point across.

Historia
Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Timothy Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.

Heart-changing
Revisado: 01-11-23
I’ve had this book on my bookshelf for years and finally decided it wouldn’t be read unless I listened to it. I’m so glad I did. Dr. Keller’s reading of it was an added treat. The message itself is quite convicting and challenging but so liberating. As an elder brother type, I need the message of the heart-changing free grace of the Gospel. It has drawn me to Jesus himself. I hope it will do the same for those who listen.

Historia
The Return of the King is the towering climax to J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy that tells the saga of the hobbits of Middle-earth and the great War of the Rings. In this concluding volume, Frodo and Sam make a terrible journey to the heart of the Land of the Shadow in a final reckoning with the power of Sauron. In addition to narrating the prose passages, Rob Inglis sings the trilogy’s songs and poems a capella, using melodies composed by Inglis and Claudia Howard, the Recorded Books studio director.

So glad I finally listened
Revisado: 12-13-22
I have a new fondness for Tolkien and these books. I was introduced through the movies, but I felt I needed to take the plunge and immerse myself in the source material. I’m so glad I did. With Rob Inglis’ performance, I felt I was transported into Middle Earth.
