Historia
The January 6th attack is an unprecedented crime in American history. Sprawling and openly political, it can't be handled by the traditional rules and norms of law enforcement—threatening the very idea of justice and its role in society. A mass of online tipsters—"sedition hunters"—have mobilized, simultaneously providing the FBI with valuable intelligence. In this work of extraordinary reportage, Ryan Reilly gets to know would-be revolutionaries, obsessive online sleuths, and FBI agents, and shines a light on a justice system that's straining to maintain order in our polarized country.

Surprisingly funny

I love that the writer was also the narrator- and that he has a sense of humor. It’s a fascinating story about the Sedition Hunters and restored a bit of my faith in people.

Historia
Jon Ward's life is divided in half: two decades inside the evangelical Christian bubble and two decades outside of it. In Testimony, Ward tells the engaging story of his upbringing in, and eventual break from, an influential evangelical church in the 1980s and 1990s. Ward sheds light on the evangelical movement's troubling political and cultural dimensions, tracing the ways in which the Jesus People movement was seduced by materialism and other factors to become politically captive rather than prophetic.

Well done!
Revisado: 05-12-23
The author has written an informed and unflinching book about his experiences, and our experiences as a country in the context of Donald Trump and the pandemic. It is an evolution from his youth to the present day. It’s likely to change a few more times, and he has the insight to know that. I am impressed by his tenacity and identify with some of his struggles. Ward’s experience as a lifelong seeker of spiritual truth is evident throughout, as is his emergence as a truth seeker of a more secular nature. He read a lot of history by respected authors. He interviewed and corresponded with leading figures across disciplines, experience and time. He has integrity. Excellent book.

Informative and clear. Really held my interest. The author is the narrator, and it really works in this case.

Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

Important history everyone should know
Revisado: 02-16-22
I knew some of this history from growing up in Texas, hearing about Jim Crow and observing the way my own Grandpa treated his black employees. Seeing the segregation in my little town, and knowing there had been an infamous lynching there- mentioned in this book. People who never lived in the South have no idea what it was like. I didn't know what it was like in Northern and Western cities and I learned a lot from this book about that. I am now reading "Caste" by the same author. This should be required reading in America.
