Engaging collection of Cthulhu stories
Revisado: 02-08-17
Great collection of tales based around the Cthulhu mythos. As I am not a Lovecraft expert, I don't know if these stories just draw from the Lovecraft Cthulhu collection, or are a re-telling. Never the less, it was a fun listen.
I really enjoyed the format of people telling the tales in a tavern to connect the story. The author did a great job making you feel like you were sitting there having an ale on a stormy night, absorbing each story from the men who told them.
It somehow reminded me of the older horror movies I loved as a kid. I wouldn't categorize it as scary, but well told, not corny.

Historia
College students Kenji and Dylan stumble upon a strange recording in the background of an obscure song. It's a woman's voice uttering a string of seemingly random characters. Upon further inspection, the song appears to have been embedded with a hidden message. Attempting to crack the mysterious code and becoming obsessed with the recording, Kenji and Dylan set off in search of answers. With every turn in the road however, the puzzle only seems to grow more complicated.

Great story, great narrator
Revisado: 01-17-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This a good, eerie, quick paced horror story. Although short, it didn't feel like it was rushed. The characters are easily understood without going into every little detail about them.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The pace of the book was almost perfect for me. There were slight lulls but then intense, eerie sections. I have listened to a ton of horror stories and in my opinion, this one was well done.
Which character – as performed by Jake Urry – was your favorite?
No real favorites, but Jack Urry did a great job. This is my first time listening to him and was impressed. However, if you don't like narrators with accents, you should listen to the sample first.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I hope there is a sequel in the works.
Any additional comments?
After reading all of glowing reviews, then noticing on the bottom of each that they had received the book for a an honest review, I was a bit leary going into this book. But after finishing it seemed appropriate to review the book as someone who bought it.

Couldn't finish this one
Revisado: 06-22-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not unless they like odd narrators that have HUGE swings in volume and enjoy enjoy lots of adjectives. Lots and lots of adjectives.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I tried, but I just couldn't finish this one, so I have no opinion on the ending.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jeff Hays?
Anybody
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe
Any additional comments?
This book sounded like a cool idea, but the narrator really tainted it for me. He may be great for other people, but for me the impressions of the characters reminded me of someone reading a book to a child. I'm afraid that my irritation with the narrator made start picking apart the writing of the book. It may great in a print version.

American Gods "Light"
Revisado: 03-19-14
What did you like best about this story?
This was a fun story. My best attempt at describing it would be a "light", younger audience version of American Gods. The narrator did a great job and the story has few slow spots.
