Absolute BORE!
Revisado: 04-24-25
I tried to like this book, I tried so hard to push through and understand the meaning of it as I know there must be! Unfortunately I’ve reached the end if what I can tolerate. It’s dragging on with the author continuously repeating the same thing over and over again! I paid for this book, it was not a free credit. I’m glad it was only $3.

Not a fan of the writing
Revisado: 03-18-25
Definitely cannot finish this book. The story is silly and the writing is just not good. The main character Isla and the people in her realm wear clothing that is practically see through because they are temptresses yet we are supposed to believe that Isla was embarrassed and caught off guard by a man on a balcony with a view onto hers saw her singing while she was only wearing her undergarments? And with that I am finished with this one.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Historia
Opal is a lot of things—orphan, high school dropout, full-time cynic and part-time cashier—but above all, she's a determined to find a better life for her younger brother Jasper. One that gets them out of Eden, Kentucky, a town remarkable for only two things: bad luck and E. Starling, the reclusive nineteenth century author of The Underland, who disappeared over a hundred years ago. All she left behind were dark rumors—and her home. Everyone agrees that it’s best to ignore the uncanny mansion and its misanthropic heir, Arthur. Almost everyone, anyway.

Revisado: 01-13-25
I absolutely love Alice E Harrows writing style. She’s very original in her descriptions and is not repetitive the way some writers can be.
This story is wonderful and so is the performance. I definitely recommend this book.

Historia
Cass (plus her ghost best friend, Jacob) is in Paris, where Cass’s parents are filming their show about the world’s most haunted cities. Sure, it’s fun eating croissants and seeing the Eiffel Tower, but there’s true ghostly danger lurking beneath Paris, in the creepy underground Catacombs. When Cass awakens a frighteningly strong spirit, she must rely on her still-developing skills as a ghost hunter - and turn to friends both old and new to help her unravel a mystery. But time is running out, and the spirit is only growing stronger.

Her best friend is even a ghost. So things are already pretty strange. But they're about to get much stranger. When Cass's parents start hosting a TV show about the world's most haunted places, the family heads off to Edinburgh, Scotland. Absolutely Delightfully Written
Revisado: 10-02-23
V.E. Schwab is such a magnificent writer. Her words are simply magic! She makes every thing she is writing about so vividly clear. It’s so easy for your imagination to see exactly what she has created. Such a fun and beautiful writer. This book was creepy but beautiful. The two worlds so distinctively different yet beautifully described. I highly recommend this book.
