YOU have the feeling you are physically with each character and watching.
Revisado: 02-22-24
The book is well written and you feel like you are physically with the characters and watching them. it keeps you on edge. Thevon real downside is that if you have notbreads the books in sequential order then the author will insert things that have occurred in prior books to keep you understand the context of what is happening. However, you cannot always skip past this since adds something new or something from the past in a different perspective.

Historia
On the muddy banks of the Calumet River, a body has been found posed next to a series of mysterious glyphs and bearing wounds from a ritualistic slaying. Chicago detective Addie Bisset knows only one man who can decipher the message left by the killer: her friend Dr. Evan Wilding. A brilliant forensic semiotician, Evan decodes the etchings as Viking Age runes. They suggest either human sacrifice or righteous punishment. But to what god? And for what sins? Only one thing is clear from the disturbing runic riddles: there are more victims to come.

A Poorly Written Book
Revisado: 03-16-23
This is a terrible book. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because it started out alright and went downhill. I was disappointed with the narration but more disappointed with the story. It is slow and is excellent when 8t comes to putting you asleep. I did not read past chapter 12 because it just worth it!!!!!!!

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Great Story
Revisado: 12-20-22
I enjoyed this book but my biggest criticism is that the story does not really start until chapter 20. I just wished I knew that before I started that John Grisham put a lot of character developmentand and history of Biloxi in those early chapters before listening. Also, like an historical novel it is mostly done in the third person. However, I found the book interesting and definitely captivating attimes!

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

A Great Novel with Fiction and Historical Accuracy
Revisado: 11-21-22
The novel uses fictional characters. mostly American, to take you through the period of 1939 to December 1941. It's not about war but how people viewed each other and the POSSIBILITY of a war . A good example of what this book is like is to compare it to the TV show "The Crown." The statements may have or may not have been said but the historical events and struggles were accurately displayed.

Lacks Emotional Depth
Revisado: 10-13-21
The issue is that it is like a narration. excluding some chapters there is a lack of emotional depth. The story is good but the narration was not as good but part of that was due to how it was written.
