So creative and entertaining!
Revisado: 04-10-25
What is not to love in a story! This is one of my all-time favorite series. The world building is amazing. The characters are charming, as well as filled with unexpected twist and turns of behavior. The plot kept my attention. I love the scholarly nature of the main character. She’s a flawed and very lovable. The narration in the story is often poetic, but not tiring at all. I highly recommend the series and the author.

Great story amazing narration!
Revisado: 02-04-25
I’m enjoying this fantasy series more than most, and I read and listen to a LOT of great fantasy author’s works. The story in this series is deep and full of narrative poetry! The characters are fascinating. There is real world wisdom in the story. It has many brilliant moments. And most of all I never get bored. The performance is as close to masterful as any Audible book I’ve listened to. As the series moves through the trilogy, every aspect of the story gets better and better. As deep and profound as the trilogy is, I expect it will one day be considered a classic.

Historia
As a wielder of domestic magic, Finlay Ashowan likes to keep his affairs as neat and orderly as his kitchen. But between his work for the King and Queen of Daxaria and a new (secret) relationship with Lady Annika Jenoure, his life is anything but tidy. For one thing, if Annika and Fin are to continue their romance, they’ll need to sort out the pesky issue of Fin’s being a commoner—before Annika is forced into a political marriage that interferes with her own carefully laid plans. For another, pressure is mounting as the war with Troivack draws ever closer.

Historia
Marius Valstar doesn’t know which is worse: the dead body in his greenhouse or the naked fae prince on his desk. The only rakes of interest to Marius are garden tools, not fae princes. Certainly not the arrogant, selfish fae prince he has the misfortune to have a history with. But when Prince Rakken turns up naked and bleeding in Marius’s college the same day a body appears in his greenhouse, scruples must take second place to solving a murder that could unravel the delicate balance between humans and fae.

Good story about magic and love
Revisado: 10-11-24
I loved the first 4 books of the Stariel series, probably one of my all time favorite fantasy series. The writing is masterful and poetic in places that does not burden the flow of action. Well done! A Rake of his own, book 5, is described as a steamy man on man romance…not my cup of tea. But I decided to listen to it as I wasn’t ready to let go of the characters and storyline. I applaud the author for the warning (“steamy m/m romance”) as I was far warned. The sex scenes were far too explicit for me but as you can imagine the substance of the story and the quality of the writing made it worth that part.

Historia
Hetta’s family now knows Wyn’s true identity, but that doesn’t mean they approve of their relationship. Princes are all very well, but Wyn’s not human - though he’s spent 10 years pretending to be. With gossip spreading like wildfire, Hetta and Wyn receive a royal summons. The queen of Prydein has heard the rumors of fae intruders, and she's not letting Wyn go until she's satisfied that he and his people aren’t a threat. Convincing her would be a lot easier if someone wasn’t trying to blacken Wyn’s name and if his sister wasn’t trying to kill him.

Revisado: 09-30-24
I listen to a lot of audio books and Finty Williams does an absolutely amazing job narrating this series…the best I’ve heard. On top of that the storyline, characters, and world building by AJ Lancaster is fantasy at its best! The quality of writing is excellent. I highly recommend this series!

Historia
A heartwarming, uplifting village romance for fans of Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant and Cathy Bramley. Buying a thatched cottage in the country may not be the usual cure for a broken heart. But after Clara Maxwell finds out her boyfriend and best friend have been sneaking around behind her back, packing her bags and leaving everything in London behind feels like it's the only way forward. When Henry Garnett, her (rather handsome) new contractor, turns up with his little daughter Pansy and a van shaped like a cottage in tow, she isn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Historia
Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is good at many things: She is the foremost expert on the study of faeries. She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party—or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, Shadow, and the Fair Folk to other people. So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk.

One of the best audible books!
Revisado: 01-01-23
I’ve been a audible customer since 2017 and I’ve listened to hundreds of titles, and this is absolutely the best audible performance! The storyline is incredible. The writing is poetic in many places. The plot moves really fast, and the main character is fascinating, along with the rest of the characters who are also fascinating. I highly recommend this book.
