First of all, this "book" has absolutely NOTHING to do with the immensely popular print version of the same name. It's a different author, who I am convinced is not even a native English speaker. Weird phrases and word choices that make no sense run rampant throughout this trainwreck, and it distracts from the core of whatever message this "book" thinks it's delivering. The narration is just as bad -- I swear, they intentionally chose the most bland, boring voice to narrate this in hopes that nobody would notice that the entire book is incoherent and laughably bad. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!

This was my first LGBT romance novel and it did not disappoint. Some steamy scenes pepper well-written characters and a decent story. The narrator is fantastic!

Started out strong, then quickly became boring and monotonous. Decent narrator, but the story itself just devolves into a litany of lies the conman told without any more substance.

This is a pleasant book with an equally warm and pleasant narration by the author.

Maybe it's because I'm not an animal person, but I just couldn't relate to the story or characters even a little bit. The author is absolutely obsessed with octopuses. I learned a lot about the creatures, but beyond that, I found the entire premise silly.

The author says she doesn't want to be accused of anthropomorphizing octopuses, but that's pretty much exactly what she does throughout the entire book.

There are ups and downs throughout the story, but none of them spoke to me because... it's just an animal. I found myself rolling my eyes so many times, I honestly couldn't wait for this ridiculous tale to end.

I thought there would be some kind of treatise providing insight into human consciousness via observations about octopuses. But no. It's literally just a woman who really, really, REALLY likes octopuses. An overall disappointing journey that I won't be returning to.

Some interesting points and modern and historical anecdotes, but reads like a dissertation. Better as reference material than an engaging thought piece.

Let's get this out of the way: This is a very good book, and Michael C. Hall's performance is absolutely superb. My only complaint is that the story itself is about 2 hours longer than it needed to be, particularly towards the end. Lots of build-up with a satisfying payoff, but it got to a point where I just wanted the story to GET TO THE CLIMAX ALREADY!! Other than that minor gripe, this is a classic.

This is a fun book, but it's very hard to take seriously. The stories are so far-fetched, it's like listening to a sci-fi story. I guess in the '70s (when it was originally published), it would have sounded more credible, but now that modern science has advanced, a lot of the incidents related here could be easily explained.

Also, the title of the book is misleading. There's barely any talk of the Mothman. 90% of the book focuses on UFOs and conspiracy theories. The movie version did a better job of focusing on the Mothman and Indrid Cold than what's conveyed in here.

Nonetheless, still an interesting listen, especially if you want to get an idea of the general mindset of the '60s.

I love Raymond Carver -- his stories are quiet yet heartbreaking and powerful. But Norman Dietz's flat, robotic performance ruins this anthology. I'm disappointed that he was chosen to read all of Carver's work, as I would have liked to hear these stories narrated by someone who understands the material and has much more life in their voice.

Lauren Graham's narration of her life on and off the set of Gilmore Girls is hilarious, and gives a great look into the life of an actor. Loved every minute of this book!
