Historia
Few figures in American politics have seen more and said less than Mitt Romney. An outspoken dissident in Donald Trump’s GOP, he has made headlines in recent years for standing alone against the forces he believes are poisoning the party he once led. Romney was the first senator in history to vote to remove from office a president of his own party. When that president’s supporters went on to storm the US Capitol, Romney delivered a thundering speech from the Senate floor accusing his fellow Republicans of stoking insurrection.

The integrity of the subject of the book
Revisado: 11-20-23
I thought the book was an interesting read, because he has been around in recent times. I was familiar with a lot of the history that was discussed, and that actually made it maybe even a little bit more interesting. The insight into this gentleman was very enlightening. He was much more substantive than what i had envisioned as a citizen watching his career from afar

Historia
Even through the roar and effervescence of the 1920s, everyone in New York has heard of Benjamin and Helen Rask. He is a legendary Wall Street tycoon; she is the daughter of eccentric aristocrats. Together, they have risen to the very top of a world of seemingly endless wealth—all as a decade of excess and speculation draws to an end. But at what cost have they acquired their immense fortune? This is the mystery at the center of Bonds, a successful 1937 novel that all of New York seems to have read. Yet there are other versions of this tale of privilege and deceit.

Disjointed book
Revisado: 11-15-23
After finishing the book I’m still not sure what was the overriding story. I am sure this is considered a work of art but I for one just didn’t get it. Maybe it’s me.

Any golfer will understand this: You go out to the driving range, you warm up with your irons, everything is going right. You pull out your utility clubs, you are hitting great. Your driver - boom. The ball flies far and lands just where you want it. You head for the practice green...you drain every putt from 30 feet in. But eventually, you end up quadruple bogey.

Historia
With decades of hindsight, the peaceful end of the Cold War seems a foregone conclusion. But in the early 1980s, most experts believed the Soviet Union was strong, stable, and would last into the next century. Ronald Reagan entered the White House with no certainty of what would happen next, only an overriding faith in democracy and an abiding belief that Soviet communism—and the threat of nuclear war—must end. The Peacemaker reveals how Reagan’s White House waged the Cold War while managing multiple crises around the globe.

Compelling story
Revisado: 06-21-23
This was a very easy to listen to and interesting book. It was long, but I enjoyed it very much. It took place during an earlier time in my life, and I remembered lots of events, but the way it’s told the details were very interesting and told me a lot about President Reagan, that I did not know. I left feeling this was an exceptional man who I underestimated at the time.
