Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Fantastic Story!
Revisado: 06-27-24
This was a fun listen with a fantastic performance. Very clever story with well thought out characters which made this fantastical plot completely believable! Sucked me in right from the beginning. I think this could be made into an incredible movie or series as well. Highly recommend, one of my favorites of this year!

Historia
People aren’t as they seem. And history…I’m still attempting to reconcile the truth with what I was previously told. My new allies have an agenda, but I have one of my own. Though there’s overlap—we all agree Dante must die—what I desire more than anything is to return to Lore before he levels the kingdom to find me…or loses his humanity trying. I may favor crowns over coffins, but I refuse to live in a world where my mate only exists as a bird.

This series overall needs some work
Revisado: 03-14-24
Pros first, the overall premise of the story is actually pretty good and engaging. The author painted a vivid picture of the world and its environment, which definitely helped pull me into the story. I also enjoyed the side characters and found them to be the most interesting with their comedic and witty dialogue. The female narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.
Now for the cons, although the premise of the story was interesting, the execution needed work! There were so many plot holes and things that just didn't add up. It sort of felt like the author was just making up some random things as they were writing. The FMC came across really unintelligent & naive. Naivete I understand, but the amount of time it took for her to realize certain things was frustrating and annoying. Especially since the books are written in 1st person, it was grating on my nerves and it felt like the character was more of a 13yr old vs the 22yr old she's supposed to be. The 1st book was by far the worst and the character did improve slightly throughout the series, but honestly not by much. Another plot fail were the "war" scenes, they were not planned out logistically whatsoever. The characters would just go to attack with absolutely no strategy and it was utter chaos and stupidity. This confused me, because the other characters in the book, including the MMC, were like 500yrs old. You would think they'd know to plan a strategy or two. It just came across to me as sloppy writing and completely unbelievable. There were also other areas of the series that I think should have been explored further.
I can't say I'd recommend this series, it's definitely no ACOTAR and it doesn't fill the void for me...

Engaging & addicting story!
Revisado: 02-25-24
I just finished book 1 of this series and I'm currently downloading book 2. I'm hooked. My rating is more of a 4.5 not a 4. More on that but I have to start with saying I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book and the performance. The court intrigue, the realness and unfairness of the lack of woman's rights, the slow burn romance, the character development, the twist at the end; it was all excellent. I wasn't sure on what some of the other reviewers were talking about with the narrator, but I thought she did an excellent job, acting was top notch and drew me into the story from the get go, well done!
Now the reason for the 4.5 rating and not a perfect 5 (it is so close to a 5 for me tbh), and this could have been the fault of the editor(s), I wish they didn't glaze over what had happened to the FMC's sister. I won't divulge anything more because of spoilers. But that is a minor complaint/criticism, hence the 4.5 rating. Obviously since I'm downloading the next installment of this series. It's worth every credit /$ and I highly recommend anyone that is interested in historical fantasy fiction. The author built an incredibly believable world and characters, I assure you that you will not be able to put this book down! Ok, I'm ending this review now so I can hurriedly begin book 2!

Year 2522. Oh. My. Stars. Junior Officer Ara Lawrence here, reporting for duty. Again. It's situation critical for the security team and everyone in the base - including my parents - with a new attack from the looters imminent, a possible galaxy-wide crime conspiracy and an unstoppable alien threat. But this all pales in the face of my mind-blowing discovery about the Q-net. Of course, no one believes me.

Another Great Adventure from Snyder!
Revisado: 01-26-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this series, along with Snyder's other stories, this is also a home run! Gabra did a fantastic job narrating and bringing the story to life (as per usual). Even tho this is more of a YA book, I'm in my 30s and I loved it. Snyder's world building, character and plot development is awesome, engaging and so entertaining. She's now one of my favorites along with Gabra! Definite A-team action here! Alright, hurry up and write / narrate more stories please, thanks!

Revisado: 12-13-22
Fun story, likable characters, good pacing between action and story building. The narration is fantastic. If you have a road trip with family or friends this is a perfect audiobook as I think most people would thoroughly enjoy it. I also appreciated the underlying message of the story, a good one to be learned or even reminded of. Thanks for the adventure!

Not good!
Revisado: 10-27-22
Started meh, got worse and became so bad I felt stupid for listening to it and finally shut it off and didn't finish it. Woof, this was one of the worst books I've ever purchased. I don't even know how it got decent reviews nor how it got in my library. The plot has many holes and is baseless, there is absolutely no engagement, and honestly the storyline is just plain old dumb. Character development, oh right it doesn't exist in this book. No care has gone into the characters or the plot. The narration is hard to rate because the book was so bad and the dialogue was like a ten year old wrote it. That said, her voice acting seemed off and I would hesitate in purchasing any books narrated by her in the future. Do yourself a favor and don't get this book.

Awesome series!!!
Revisado: 09-13-22
This entire series was throughoughly enjoyable! The writing and narration are top notch. Character and plot development is excellent and the authors really know how to engage the reader and draw them in. There were laugh out loud moments, sad and unbelievable ones and edge of your seat chapters where I couldn't put it down/shut off audible. I highly recommend to anyone especially if you're into sci fi. It is a totally different take on a very saturated subject matter, vampires, and I found it incredibly refreshing, interesting and captivating from book 1 to this last installment. I'm sad it's over! But I'm 100% certain I will be re-listening to this down the road, it's just that good. Thanks to the talented authors and incredible performance by the narrator!

The beginning of this series' downfall
Revisado: 07-22-22
This series starts out with a bang, full of action, mystery and edge of your seat thrilling plots. It starts to decline a bit plot and character wise with the last couple of books. This installment is definitely the worst so far. I despise the newly added male character in the MC's life, the aduer or whatever it's called - why haven't we ever heard about this before (weird), and the character development is going in such a strange direction, they are also feeling stale and annoying at this point. Especially Anita and Richard, I really can't stand either one of them. On top of it, I have thoroughly enjoyed Kimberly's narration up until this book, her tone or pitch has slightly changed and she is now making Anita sound more whiney and girly. Not at all like the tough Anita we know and adore. I'm sure she was directed to do so, and maybe that was a part of Anita's character shift in this book but I didn't enjoy it. Additionally, there was so much unnecessary dialogue between characters and shifter politics it was super boring, a lot of repetition that I ended up fast forwarding thru and it was totally fine. Another missing element to the book was the mystery thriller that made this series extremely good to begin with. It was a total after thought and the little that was there wasn't well done and it didn't even matter. I really didn't care what happened etc. And now there are all these odd sexual situations (which is why I stopped reading this series many years ago) so this is when this series goes from being an awesome paranormal mystery thriller to a weird paranormal erotica reverse harem type genre. Not my thing and perhaps I may skip over several installments and check out the later books...I heard they might have gotten better, closer to the beginning series genre. We shall see....

One of the best in the series!
Revisado: 06-17-22
Anita Blake series starts off strong but takes a turn into another genre down the road. I read the first 12 or 13 books years ago and had to stop when I realized this series had morphed from a paranormal mystery thriller (a who done it) to a paranormal erotica genre. I remember being so disappointed and had ceased to continue the series. Now current day, I'm waiting for the next Kim Harrison installment to come out and decided to give the Audible version of the Blake series a whirl since upon further remembrance I had thoroughly enjoyed the beginning installments of said series. And wow! Am I glad I did give these a try! The narrator is fantastic, the books are even better than I remember. The plot, the action scenes are edge of your seat and bite your nails worthy and at times actually scary(!), the character development is equally impressive as well as the dialogue. Crazily enough there are no sex scenes in the first 3 books! These first few books are just amazing stories that are incredibly enjoyable. Why did the author feel compelled to completely morph this series into an entirely different genre I have no idea. Was it the publisher? What a bummer because the beginning books are some of the best ever and I've read and listened to many different series and novels...
