If you are a fan of John Grisham’s Jake Brigance series you should give this a try. It is in a familiar vein. Jonathan Davis does an excellent narration and I found it hard to put down. I will be continuing the series for sure.

Least favorite Joe P. Book
Revisado: 09-02-21
I think the real title of this book should have been “Off the rails” as I think that is where this book went. There were some good parts and Joe did destroy another truck but it was just too out there. I hope the author is not running out of ideas. I have read all of the other books, even ones past this one. True fans will still read it but don’t start here if you are new to the series.

Historia
Evan Smoak lives by his own code. Once he was known as Orphan X. Trained as an off-the-books government assassin and spoken about only in whispers, Evan Smoak was one of the most talented - and most feared - men in the Program. But he broke free and reinvented himself as The Nowhere Man, a figure shrouded in mystery, known for helping the truly desperate. If anyone is truly desperate, it’s Max Merriweather.

Maybe the best of the series
Revisado: 03-09-20
This iteration of the Orphan X series might be the best one yet. Evan is more "human" is this one than any other book. I won't give anything away, but Evan's story takes a big turn in this chapter that has been building for a while. If you have never read an Orphan X book this is not a good one to start with. There is too much back story that you would miss. This is a series that is truly meant to be read in order as the characters naturally evolve over the course of each successive book. This series is my second favorite behind the Bosch series of books. Both are very well written. Gregg Hurwitz's series requires a bit of suspended belief, but not so much that it detracts from the story. I truly enjoyed this book and the narration.

Not your usual romance
Revisado: 01-25-19
Many books of this genre follow the same script and just vary some details. Rich billionaire bad boy. Innocent girl somehow tames him when a hundred previous ones failed. This book has a more believable theme. Characters are flawed and more natural. I truly enjoyed this book and would do another by this author.

Must Read!!
Revisado: 04-23-18
Where does A Higher Loyalty rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the first Trump related book that I have read so it really don't have a "rank".
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Higher Loyalty?
The background and insight is very informative. James provides a backstory on why he made the decisions that he did. It is helpful to fill in the context. While I don't necessarily agree with all of his decision, I do now see how he got there.
What does James Comey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The insights into the 3 presidents is enlightening.
Any additional comments?
For those that agree with the "slime ball" remarks of the president, you really should read this book. It gives balance to the steady stream of tweets. You can make your own decision as to whom you agree or side with, but at least listen to both sides.

Immersive story and excellent narration
Revisado: 11-21-16
Any additional comments?
This is my first John Hart book and I am very impressed. The woven storylines are fantastic and I didn't want to put it down. (I worked on 3 toilets and painted in the house so I could continue listening!!!) At first I was a bit iffy on the narration, but he grew on me as the book went on. I will say that it was not too difficult to figure out the "who done it" part. Most of the time it would be a negative if I can figure out the ending too quickly, but in this case the characters are so deep and well developed that I didn't care. I just wanted to enjoy listening to the story unfold at it's own pace.
The author does a great job of giving the right amount of detail. It seems very "visual" which is excellent for an audio book. You get to engage your own imagination and just immerse in the story. Can't wait to read the next one. This author is now one of my top 10 favorites, and I am very glad I found it.

Ok story terrible female narration
Revisado: 09-02-16
The story is ok. A bit too unbelievable for my taste. The real issue is the female narrator. Her inflections were almost enough to make me ask for a refund. The male voice was fine.
