Cliche Shounen Protagonist

I was hoping for a grey aligned dungeon lord - maybe someone who is good but still shrewd with a unique premise. Instead this MC is literally Naruto 2.0. And the story as a result was very predictable, like it was following a formula for a typical shounen manga. It will make money, sure. It will garner an audience, sure. But that's all.

Decent But I will Never Read the Sequel

I liked the premise, the world, and the MC but I will never read from this series again. Why? Because I absolutely despised Angelica. And she is a major character I could not escape. Normally this isn't a problem, but she annoyed me so much, it negatively impacted my enjoyment of the book. My enjoyment level by the end? 3/5. I only rated it higher because I was sure not everyone would have the same experience.

For those wondering about Angelica, here is a spoiler free review. She is a horrible, whining, spoiled brat of a teenager that will always backstab you if given the opportunity. She is ungrateful, always thinking of herself first, and the MC showers her in power boosts. If that bothers you, consider giving this book a pass.

Better Than Book 7

This book covers a lot of ground with a mini novella at the end covering Aster's time at the academy. Overall I really liked it. Some good stories beats happen but for the most part this book, which covers roughly 20-30 years, feels like a transition and ramp up for the next book, which I cannot wait to read as it's going to be a big one, I can tell.

Book 6.5 was good

As the title implies, book 7 is really just part two of book 6, but I liked it. I would also say it's my least favorite so far. Some parts dragged on way too long. I got tired of seeing everyone's perspective for every challenge. Otherwise Minkalla did not disappoint.

Another good book. I love how this one covers the tournament, which we've been waiting to see for several books now. J.S. Arquin has become one of my favorite narrators. He does such a fantastic job giving each character their own personality.

Not Bad

It is decent. Reminded me of Dungeon Born, though I enjoyed that series more. The narrators were alright, but I have been spoiled by the monstrous talents of Travis Baldree and J.S. Arquin so I found them both to be a bit wanting.

The performances were good and the story was unique. But it was predictable and Indira was a bit cringe. Suffice to say, it's good if you have nothing else to listen to and you are craving a Buffy spinoff.

Too Much Filler

I was bored by the end. Season 1 and 2 had much better pacing, always keeping you on the edge of your seat. This season kills the pacing with flashbacks and drawn out romantic sequences that are all whole unnecessary.
