From the acclaimed Modern Library Chronicles comes an exploration of a promising theory that when put to practice wreaked havoc on the world. An expert on communism, Richard Pipes follows the history of the Soviet Union from the 1917 revolution to the Cold War, and finally, to its deterioration and collapse.

Excellent factual overview of the Communism.
Revisado: 10-31-21
I have read over 150 books concerning communism and this one actually documents the forming of the first, second and third international. It illustrates how a very small handful of people can direct an entire population of millions of people into a life of misery for their own good. Give me a lever and a place to stand and I can move the world. The crowd is just such a lever.

Historia
Nikki Haley is widely admired for her forthright manner (“with all due respect, I don’t get confused”), her sensitive approach to tragic events, and her confident representation of America’s interests as our ambassador to the United Nations during times of crisis and consequence. In this book, Haley offers a firsthand perspective on major national and international matters as well as a behind-the-scenes account of her tenure in the Trump administration.

A very educational listen.
Revisado: 05-01-20
I really knew very little about Nikki Haley. After listening, not only did I learn a lot about her as a person, I learned a lot about the world we live in and the roll the United States plays in it. The author paints a very good picture of how things are and how the politics of the UN works without a bunch of self-serving moral preening. I will absolutely listen to this book several more times and I hope to see a lot more of Nikki on the national stage. This audio production is very easy to listen to and the pace and style are pitch perfect. I love listening to an author reading their own book.

Historia
For decades environmentalists have told us that using fossil fuels is a self-destructive addiction that will destroy our planet. Yet by every measure of human well-being, from life expectancy to clean water to climate safety, life has been getting better and better. How can this be? The explanation is that we usually hear only one side of the story. We're taught to think only of the negatives of fossil fuels, their risks and side effects, but not their positives.

A must read about a controversial sububject.
Revisado: 05-01-20
I seldom write a review but after listening to this audio production I feel compelled. In the style of Thomas Sowell the author brings clarity to a very controversial subject and succeeds in making a rock solid case for the morality of fossil fuel. It is very easy to listen to and the pace and style are pitch perfect. I love listening to an author reading their own book. I will absolutely listen to this book several more times. Thank you Alex Epstein for this wonderful work!!
