Historia
When the body of a young woman is discovered in the cowshed of Cricket Farm, the tranquility of the British countryside is shattered. Inspector Jess Campbell is on the case, but with few leads, a grumbling partner, and the new superintendent Ian Carter piling on the pressure, she's beginning to wonder why she chose to be a detective in the first place.

Almost
Revisado: 02-16-25
Kept my interest. And at the end I was impressed that the story continued beyond solving the crimes to discussing whether the police had enough evidence for conviction. (I love solid conclusions.) But then suddenly, as if the completion deadline was the following day, everything came to an abrupt halt, a short quirky chapter was written and the manuscript submitted. Cute perhaps but I had come to expect more.

Historia
Ava thought her job as a librarian at the Library of Congress would mean a quiet, routine existence. But an unexpected offer from the US military has brought her to Lisbon with a new mission: posing as a librarian while working undercover as a spy gathering intelligence. Meanwhile, in occupied France, Elaine has begun an apprenticeship at a printing press run by members of the Resistance. It’s a job usually reserved for men, but in the war, those rules have been forgotten. Yet she knows that the Nazis are searching for the press and its printer in order to silence them.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 01-28-24
I really don't know much more about what librarians did than I did before I listened to this book. I was wondering how they could make a book out of it so I am not surprised. There is story here but not necessarily related to librarians. The greater part is the French resistance.

Could not finish
Revisado: 01-28-24
I have listened to easily a hundred books and this is one of the very few I could not finish. I paid cash not a credit for it so I was determined to make it to the end. After a week of trying I had to quit with 4 hrs remaining. It was less than I expected and just dragged on and on...

Historia
Emma Gray was just 23 when she moved to an isolated farm in Northumberland, becoming Britain's youngest solo shepherdess. In the seasons that followed, Emma fell in love with its rolling fields, sycamore trees and sturdy farmhouse, where she tended her sheep and trained her dogs - and even found romance along the way. But when Emma finds herself suddenly alone again, heartbroken, mourning the loss of loved ones and recovering from a serious accident, she can't help but wonder if her isolated existence is still such a sensible idea.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It was interesting and extremely well performed. I hope the author will continue chronicling her life in a third book. And I hope the same person reads it.

Historia
Whenever middle-aged desert tour guide Forrest Bryant Johnson went out on his daily walks into the Mojave, all was usually peaceful and serene. But one beautiful summer day in 1987, Forrest heard a cry of distress. Following the cries, he came upon a small bobcat kitten, injured, orphaned, and desperately in need of help. So Forrest took his new feline friend home for a night.

Loved it
Revisado: 11-06-21
No, it is not a particularly well written piece of literature, but instead a wonderfully interesting story about a rescued bobcat kitten who went on to live a very unconventional but extremely satisfying life. I really fell in love with it. I would recommend it to anybody who loves animals.

Can be frustrating
Revisado: 09-05-21
Arguably amazing how Aggie cannot seem to learn from her mistakes. But most frustrating: How can two people who can train a dog to tie and untie a boat (not a usual dog skill) not expect him to be able to track (scenting is a natural canine skill) or figure out that he is tracking someone and discovering evidence? A lot of damage could have been averted. Ugh!

Historia
Welcome to an elite Connecticut kennel club where shocking secrets gnaw at the best of the breed and competition has a sharp - and deadly - bite. As if raising her son Davey, training her rambunctious Poodle Faith for the show ring, and grooming fellow handler Sam Driver for romance aren't enough, Melanie Travis's entre into the exclusive Belle Haven Kennel Club has been met with a grisly murder. Unfortunately, the only witnesses to the crime were the victim's startled pair of Beagles.

Light young reader book
Revisado: 05-23-21
I enjoyed listening to these books though obviously they were written for someone much younger than I. I enjoyed listening to them while I was doing garden work. Helped me learn a little more about dog shows too.
These were the first books ever that I did not listen to at normal speed. They sound like normal speech at .8x normal speed. Amazing the narrator could go as fast as she did. Was she time constrained? No complaints about the narrator at a slower speed. She did a good job presenting the story.

Historia
The beautiful, serene village of Molena Point, California is the type of place where people go to get away from the harsher realities of life - which is what attracted classic film star Patty Rose to buy the village inn and settle down to enjoy her golden years. But as the town gathers to celebrate and honor the beautiful, aging actress with a festival of her old films, Patty is brutally murdered - to the horror and shock of this peaceful burg.

Had I listened to this first I would never listen to another. Awful compared to the earlier books and just plain awful. The sections of dialogue are beyond awful. Ruins the characters. Please re-record with Susan Boyce narrating.

Historia
Even though Agatha Raisin loathes amateur dramatics, her friend Mrs. Bloxby, the vicar's wife, has persuaded her to support the local pantomime. Stifling a yawn at the production of Babes in the Woods, Agatha watches as the baker, playing an ogre, struts and threatens on the stage. Then a trapdoor opens… followed by a scream and then silence. Surely, this isn't the way the scene was rehearsed?

Narration destroys it
Revisado: 03-23-21
Why did they choose to use this narrator for the last three books? Utterly ruins the end of the series. I’m only five minutes into it and I absolutely cannot stand it. Listening to her I envision big warty nosed witches stirring a cauldron. (I haven’t finished the book, as I said I’m only five minutes into it but it is so awful. I imagine it’s as good a story as the others so I will give it four stars.)
