Historia
"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain. Only Em can complete the final instruction. She's tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present - imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called "the doctor" while war rages outside.

Good story, kept my interest
Revisado: 08-06-18
This was an interesting story, at times a little complicated with the different timelines but good and fairly fast-paced. This was, with the exception of a few instances of language, overall a pretty clean book. I appreciated the story and the way it was told without being filled with R-Rated chapters, allowing the listeners to focus on the characters and story as it unfolded. This was the first read for me for this author and would listen to another by both the author and narrator.

Historia
Convicted criminal James Griffin-Mars is no one's hero. In his time, Earth is a toxic, abandoned world, and humans have fled into the outer solar system to survive, eking out a fragile, doomed existence among the other planets and their moons. Those responsible for delaying humanity's demise believe time travel holds the key, and they have identified James, troubled though he is, as one of a select and expendable few ideally suited for the most dangerous job in history.

Not for me
Revisado: 06-07-18
I made it to Chapter 5 then gave up. I am very interested in the story, wanting to know how it plays out but the actual time travel plays a minor role up through the 5th chapter. I can see where the author is building the significance of the travel and also the main character but unfortunately, I couldn't bare the narration long enough to get to the heart of the travel/story. I'm not familiar with the narrator but if you love to envision politicians at a podium with dramatic flair, or stage actors waving their hands about as they practice their performance...you will love this narrator and most likely get further along in the story then I did. Again, story & writing seems very interesting, I just couldn't get around the narrator to get a better look/listen at the story.

Completely enjoyed
Revisado: 06-07-18
I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The main character tries very hard to leave his his spy-days well behind him but gets drawn in while attempting to close out his past for good. The story and narration consistently kept my interest. The characters also keeps you guessing, then second guessing as the story unfolds. I highly recommend this listen, it was clever with lots of action and while Wignall introduces many characters, they are all well developed with an easy familiarity.

Stopped listening after 16 chapters
Revisado: 02-03-18
Would you try another book from Oliver Pötzsch and Lee Chadeayne (translator) and/or Grover Gardner?
I would listen to Grover Gardner, I had no issues with the narration. I don't believe I would select the author again. It looks like the author's focus follows these characters. It just wasn't for me.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I enjoyed the historical era and old culture but my least favorite part was how removed all the characters were (from emotion). No doubt there were several basic missions in play but none of the characters seemed emotionally connected. I'd say it was much like a means to an end for each of them.
Which character – as performed by Grover Gardner – was your favorite?
I didn't connect with any character and there were an abundance to select from. As the story was being told, I felt there was an effort to introduce every single townsperson. It was a character overload issue for me.
Do you think The Hangman's Daughter needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I didn't finish the book so I can't say.
Any additional comments?
I have trouble turning away from a book, wanting to know the ending. Usually, for me, the longer the book the better. I gave this one about 5 hours (16 chapters) to draw me in and I believe it was just starting to get interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn't imagine holding out for the ending with another 8 hours left.

Historia
FBI Special Agent Matthew Roarke is closing in on a bust of a major criminal organization in San Francisco when he witnesses an undercover member of his team killed right in front of him on a busy street, an accident Roarke can't believe is coincidental. His suspicions put him on the trail of a mysterious young woman who appears to have been present at each scene of a years-long string of accidents and murders, and who may well be that most rare of killers: a female serial.

Huntress Moon
Revisado: 12-02-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I like suspense and mystery but I think think, for this book, the Huntress character's background would have been better if presented upfront. The suspense of the chase would have been more enjoyable without the author eating up the first couple of hours trying to persuade the reader into thinking the character was going to be a bad person. I'm sure the effort was there to create a twist but it didn't work for this story, it would have been better without the attempt.
Would you recommend Huntress Moon to your friends? Why or why not?
No. It looks like the 2nd book might be better as the first book.
What does R.C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There are often internal conversations where the narrator plays out the conversation that the character isn't actually saying out loud. Bray does a good job drawing us into the character this way, making us relate to them.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe. The couple of hours that lost my interest up front may be better portrayed in a movie.
Any additional comments?
I may give the 2nd book a try, now able to appreciate the hunt. It took me about 14-15 chapters before I got engaged in this 1st book, after that point I really enjoyed it.

You will never read Denny Younger's name in any history book, will never know what he's done. But even if you did, you'd never believe it. The world as you know it wouldn't be the same without him. Denny was born into one of the lowest rungs of society, but his bleak fortunes abruptly change when the mysterious Upjohn Institute recruits him to be a Rewinder, a verifier of personal histories. The job at first sounds like it involves researching old books and records, but Denny soon learns it's far from it.

Time Travel Adventure
Revisado: 08-24-17
Where does Rewinder rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Good, kept me interested until there very end. Historical notations and the way they were brought into the story also as interesting as the story itself.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Denny, he portrayed an innocent and believable character, ready to learn all about life. It allowed us to be even more wishful/hopeful for good things to come to him.
Which character – as performed by Vikas Adam – was your favorite?
Denny, the narration flowed nicely between the adult males and young Denny.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I really enjoyed the 12 second internal conversation. The believable struggle with the character trying to tell himself it was nothing rings true to life as we all try to talk ourselves into or out of decisions we make or made.
Any additional comments?
Female characters were narrated somewhat poorly but the narrator had a wonderful voice throughout otherwise. Also, I would consider this a nice Young Adult reading, if it isn't already catergorized as such (I believe I was attracted to it as a time travel versus YA at the time.

History Lessons - the way we wish they were told
Revisado: 08-22-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Midwife's Revolt to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version so I can't say.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Midwife's Revolt?
I enjoyed the chapter with the first emergency delivery. It was a turning point to show the coummunity bonding.
Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan – was your favorite?
Mrs. Boylston, the main character. She was practical most the time, but fought it when she could.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It was very much like reading a diary only it included a lot of history (some factual, some not). It was well read and well written.
Any additional comments?
I wasn't imediately drawn in, at the beginning of the book. I'm so glad that I stuck with it. It only took a few additional listening "minutes" to get hooked. This was a very good listen and very different for me, glad I branched out. Give it a try, you'll be entertained.

Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

Good Story
Revisado: 08-12-17
I liked the book and the story but found the main character unlikeable during all but a sliver of the story. I'm a big fan of Iris Johansen's writing, grabbing this one after realizing I had book 2 in paperback. I enjoyed the character's process and methods, unfortunately the personality was a miss for me. Still, good story and the unique skills kept my interest.

If you could sum up Into the Light in three words, what would they be?

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I've not listened to books with multiple narrators, it was good this way as well.
Any additional comments?
Many questions are answered in the last chapter, just not all. As a reader, we are not left completely frustrated. However, to find out what happens to the characters the next book is a 'must-buy'. If you aren't interested in series books, this one may not be for you.

Would you consider the audio edition of Blur, Book 1 to be better than the print version?
I have both, the audio edition is quite good.
What other book might you compare Blur, Book 1 to and why?
Excluding the paranmoral aspect, it reads like a Mickey Bolitar adventure, written by Harlan Coben.
Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
It is my first time listening to Nich Podehl's, it was great.
